Ah I wish he tried shooting next to the tiger's ear to try to scare him off first. Might have worked and if it didn't then the alternative. Would've been worth a try… but in the heat of the moment… I get it. Sucks either way.
Maybe a warning shot close to the tiger had resulted in the same effect as shooting him, in Germany every cop has pepper spray wich may helps a lot in situations were you don’t necessary need to kill somebody

very first thing i wouldve done is put a few shots in to the ground then let the zoo decide to put the tiger down.
Shoot the dumb goof not the tiger. The tiger was in its home. Genius went over a fence and guard rail to get to the tiger.
