Active Self Protection says:

Guys, I know this one is hard to watch and understand, but I LITERALLY addressed why a less lethal option like a TASER wasn't used IN THIS VIDEO. If you would like that question answered, watch and listen to the video. Why didn't he shoot her in the legs? Watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wayM60obR6U

Phillip Ogle says:

I have friends who are cops. This is a classic case of suicide by cop (I typed the before the 5 minute mark only to be quoting John). Talking with a buddy who is a captain in a police dept. he said his people deal with this situation way too often. I think John's best lesson is about spiritual fitness and verbal judo. Perhaps if we can be fit, spiritually, we will be able to speak life into the broken hearts of young girls like the one above. Please feel free to say I am wrong. The only I can think of for the officer is this: Assume on the approach, she may be likely homicidal and/or suicidal. So, when she asks what will happen if she reaches for the knife, perhaps don't say: "something bad." Perhaps say, "we will be forced to put you in cuffs, process you, and take you to a mental ward." As she thought she wanted death, and not help, she may have been more inclined to not present a threat. Thoughts?

X L says:

Why you need to shoot 3 or more times? There was not needed. You can also shoot at legs not torsal which usually fatal. She could be mentally ill also. Try pepper spray or stun gun with your left hand first while holding your gun on the right.

guillermo canamo says:

That’s good to her damn cunt but must better head shot

john wick3 says:

He was in the right but ..what happened to the taser…115lb WOMAN easy taken down..

Zogly says:

This is terrible, but I expected worse. You started the video talking about a knife, then you said it was officer-involved with a negative outcome, and I expected the worst. (Probably knife video where the officer gets stabbed and doesn’t make it even though he handled things right.) Glad both survived.

Gamraoh says:

Marital Artists could’ve disarmed the 18yr girl easily.

KuvYogJames says:

Cops should have use 2 full clips on her.

We know how this all ends GOD WINS! says:

What a coward police who shoot a woman.I have no respect for U.S.A police!

Robert Evras says:

Where there is life there is hope. Glad she lived. She now gets a chance at help. The Cop did a great job.

Joe Rodriguez says:

The woman was clearly disturbed…
Those POLICE OFFICERS did nothing to calm her down.
Why didn't he start a conversation with her.
I get that cops think they have the right to shoot if mildly threatened.
But talk talk talk.
Where's the taser and or bean bag?

D Hardy says:

He should have pepper sprayed. He should have tasered.

fallinfreak192 says:

I don’t want to be a d bag… I carry daily and love guns blah blah blah. But, is there a reason he chose not to use a taser sooner instead of lethal force as the last second?

smhsadley says:

I take care of someone who's schizophrenia this is my actual nightmare mental illness is no joke… sometimes people forget what there doing ..

Walter Aguilar says:

This officer de-escalation skills really suck

Kuja says:

Why Use A Weapon You Have 0 Experience With Against Someone Trained To Deal With People EXACTLY Like You *Shaking My Head*

Matthew Brown says:

John I feel sorry for the officers that have to do that. I don't feel bad because the aggressor was put down. I do feel sorry for the officers that had to do this

WILLY LYNCH says:

Just shoot the knife out of her hand.

Vlad The Impaler says:

Too bad the bitch didn’t die

J Zed says:

“I’ve been waiting all day”… she sounded genuinely happy… until she actually got shot. Too bad the less lethal came out too late

Afro Samuri says:

Sad that many cops in this situation continue firing killing the person.

OldSkoolHonda says:

Should of used none lethal force if he was able to say 5150.
Didn't really try to use any verbal judo.

jsu1982 says:

I agree…negative outcome…cop did everything right…but it just wasn’t going to go well.

Spencer Straka says:

There are no empty handed skills when it comes to a knife fight. Lesson #1 of a knife fight: someone WILL be cut/stabbed. Lesson #2: create distance and keep the subject at bay until they are no longer a threat. Officer did a phenomenal job.

Gweed Gweed652 says:

What this tells me is the cop couldn't wait to shoot her. 4 cops no need to shoot her.

Cameron Chesser says:

Less than lethal options have fail rates. These need to be considered. I have yet to see a LTL Shotgun Beanbag option deployed without a lethal backup in play. If the LEO had a bean bag shot gun with a lethal backup, it may have been a good option. When the backup arrived with lethal option already in play, the aggressor made the decision to charge. Anyone who has REALLY trained, knows the threat a knife wielding attacker poses at that distance. Even if he had been loaded with bean bags, I would bet the lethal backup would have dropped her. Play stupid games; win stupid prizes. Glad she lived, but I question how much she learned. She needs help, but that doesn't negate the fact that she has no right to think that the LEO that dropped her in obvious defense is not a feeling human as well.

Tripple B says:

Do you understand what the f**** problem is here she knew he would shoot her just because she had a knife if she would have had a stick he still would have shot her there has to be other options than just killing somebody because they are holding something that could hurt you f**** crazy in other countries they don't do it like this he should be life preserved overall sometimes it's not possible but this time and other times it's very possible this is f*** up this is how we do things suicide by cop

Gary Smith says:

Perhaps instead of "negative" the word you want is "unfortunate"? Even if it is totally necessary, and even justified, to shoot, and even kill, it is a traumatic and solemn thing to have to go through, and if a person doesn't think so it makes me wonder about them.
