Situational awareness. Situational awareness. Situational awareness. I'm aware of and have an "interest in my surroundings," as John would say, ALL the time. (As compared to a paranoia). If I suspect I'm being tailed, I find a non-aggressive way to let them know I'm aware that they're there.
I had to take out money one time and did not have a car. I noticed a lady just hanging around the bank talking on the phone. I pulled out the cash stuffed it on me and walked outside. I notice a car pulling up fast to the bank so I ran as fast as I could across the street. They have something coming if they think I'm just going to hand them my hard earned money.
The lessons I’m seeing here is that we’ve got to do something about the way we acquiesce to certain cultures, as though they are the trouble child who abuses the good nature and naivety of their parent. This culture has spent all their creativity and efforts crafting methods of social manipulation instead of putting that energy into restoring their moral compass.
Sometimes you just have to withdraw money. Sometimes there is NO alternative. In those times you NEED to be hyper aware of you're surroundings and I personally am armed when I do.
