Michael Janich H2HC Video: Self-Defense Moves Against a Knife Attack
http://www.blackbeltmag.com?video=1 “One of the toughest things you’re going to run into is going empty-hand against a knife,” knife-fighting and H2HC expert…
mumbo jumbo. When l’ll see this defense in a realistic demo, with repeated
stabbings and changing angle of attack with ligtning speed where knife
control is virtually impossible then l’ll give it 10 thumbs up.Until then
it’s just another fairytale world of slow attack vs fast defense where
every technique works perfect.
This method seem very effective but there could be a problem with it: What
if the attacker wears a big winter coat? You wouldn’t be able to lock your
right hand behind his upper arm that easily. Can you grab the coat instead
and then pull in towards your chest? Great video. Thank you.
Sense i have not been in a knife fight I will speak from other
exerience-the movements shown appear to be realistic and should be
tried in the class room slowly-when gotten down speed it up with safety
glasses-test it under stress after that- that the only way to come to
any conclusion-i almost had my head taken off when i guy swung a 9mm
at my face but reaction to it was simply block it and grab wrist pulling
his arm down it took 1oth of sec.had been practising this attack
before this—good vidio…..
first off janich has bad blade protocols when it comes to handing blade to
and from his training partner. second, try that move against a non
compliant attacker, and third, this is important, do not take the
attacker to the ground and go into a lock because you are now vulnerable to
a possible attack from the knifer’s partner. the question you need to ask
is, how many fights have janich ever been in that dealt with a blade or
mass attack? never think that your opponent is alone. a cop needs to
think this at all times. is janich teaching this to the l.e.o.’s. from
janich’s biography, he has never been in combat of any sort. all his moves
come from hubad drills. show me these are combat tested.
when do we ever see someone take a person down and control them ? then your
gonna put a handcuff on one hand while your hold yhe other in a fantasy
lock
also the initial reaction is good but, its asking alot to do all of the
other bs. a cop is not gonna try and cuff someone if the assailant has a
knife in hand is he? really WTF.
ok. looks pretty impressive. but i would like to see a demo in real time
where the attacker is attempting to stab multiple times, stabbing & pulling
back to stab again. is the defense fast & simple enough to stop the
attacker? pleas upload a demo showing this.
Just be flexible… as in using your reflexes quickly to improvise against
the attacker. Bruce Lee called this broken rhythm, it is essential to do so
in a real attack because you cannot predict what your attacker might do
next. Just go with the flow…
Find some object a stick, rock, glass anything solid and strike him with it
if u cant then just run… because there are more chances for an average
person to get injured than for him to block the knife and disarm the
opponent.
Yeah, that is actually a really good point. I think this method ‘may’ stop
an initial low upward sweeping strike (prison style). But if the attacker
changes the angle, that “ramp” looks very nasty. Only in the second step of
the move, where your draw the attackers arm in, does it look like Janich
has sufficent control. The truth is. these kind of attacks are usually
unexpected, so the move is unlikely to be useful.
Pretty good move over all and can be pulled off at speed. The ramp issue
isn’t as big as it looks. The other hand being on top helps to close off
the highline, but if u keep the elbow bent some its not a clear shot. This
positioning also enables you to go a few different ways with it based on
the attackers energy. Its not exactly the way i would prefer but its pretty
good. Also, seeing an attack or not often comes down to whether you train
to know what to look for and to be habitually aware.
Whatever works, jim wagner has good knife defense video too.expect cuts tho
very fast movement and informative…thank you!!!

very nice thanks

great video, makes sense.

This really is a great & dependable disarm – 1 of the few I would ever
actually bet my safety on working if needed. Great stuff.
Every. Single. Time.
Michael Janich is the shit, i loved this video Junkyard Aikido

What do you do if the guy is capable of using his other hand or any of his
feet?
