Why so serious? Because you’re going to jail for 12,000 years, that’s why. The first 200 Legal Eagles can try Dashlane free for 30 days: https://www.dashlane.com/legaleagle 10% off Dashlane Premium with the code: legaleagle (really helps out the channel!) This week we’re covering the greatest movie Batman movie ever made — perhaps the greatest superhero movie of all time: The Dark Knight. Today we’re answering two different questions. Since we know the Joker is doing all kinds of illegal things I tallied up all the different crimes to determine HOW MANY life sentences. Because there is a lot of murder. For Batman, we answer the question, can he use the self-defense justification to fight crime? Or is Batman just as guilty as the criminals he fights? Who is legally responsible for all the death and destruction? Find out today! Stay until the end when tally up the sentences for both the Joker and Batman. ———————————————————————————— Have you ever watched a movie and thought “that looks illegal.” It probably is! Welcome to Laws Broken, a series on LegalEagle where I tackle your favorite movies and show you how legally irresponsible they are. As a lawyer, it’s hard for me to watch movies, because I’m constantly thinking about how the main characters are breaking the law or opening themselves up for civil liability. But my pain is your entertainment! Got a non-legal movie that seems illegal? Let me know in the comments! New episodes weekly! I love watching legal movies and courtroom dramas. It’s one of the reasons I decided to become a lawyer. But sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out because they are ridiculous from a legal perspective. Today I’m taking a break from teaching law students how to crush law school to take on the movies and TV. All clips used for fair use commentary, criticism, and educational purposes. couldn't the Joker plead insanity that's why he is always locked up in the Arkham Asylum and not sent to a regular prison

Cameron Joseph Videos says:

When the Joker is threatening to throw a woman out of a building but all the police care about is that you were loitering with a mask in a public place.

Ledgisimo says:

Love this series and this episode in particular. Handy to know.

TexasSnyper says:

Objection! I believe the party at 13:50 is at his residence so he would be able to defend himself and not need to withdraw.

Trunx says:

Can you do the movie Taken?

Badman3000 says:

Objection Batman was in his home when the Joker broken so doesn't he have a right to defend him and his guess.

Christopher Davis says:

Objection to Stella being #3 in the lineup. She's a good dog and I'm sure she has a solid alibi for the time of the burglary of the dog biscuits.

blindsightedkill says:

Batman got a longer sentence than the Joker?

Michiel Hoeree says:

14:30 ?

scifino1 says:

15:07 OBJECTION! That looks like some room made to demonstrate such weaponry. Seeing that the weapon used there is one produced by Wayne Enterprises Inc. (or rather their weapons manufacturing division) I would assume that this room is likely one of their own or of Mr. Wayne's. I would assume that Mr. Wayne likely has some specific license for firing this kind of weaponry in this exact room.

Beauregarde St. Beauregarde says:

Objection, the under duress moment during aggressive expansion was one count of homicide, 1 count of attempted homicide

AnimeOtaku2 says:

Objection it’s generally accepted that Metropolis is NYC, Gotham is probably Chicago, Central City is… complicated, it’s bounced between Athens in Ohio, Philadelphia in Pennsylvania and St Louis in Missouri.

Weez naz says:

I always thought Metropolis was the Nee York City and Gotham was the Chicago

Tucker Tooley says:

I guess this is why hero’s wear masks

LordOfNothingreally says:

OBJECTION!!! Metropolis is a stand-in for New York City

Gotham is a stand in for Chicago

andrewhall908 says:

So much …BATtery

King Cobra says:

I know that you going off New York law but the movie was shot in Chicago so would it be more accurate to go off of Chicago laws.

Ben Seifarth says:

Objection! Joker and Batman wouldn't be sentenced to life in Arkham but instead life in Black Gate. Arkham is an Asylum and Black Gate is a prison.
