Kubaton Self Defense – My honest thoughts

I know a few people who carry a kubatons, so I took some time to study conventional kubaton training, and this is the resulting opinions. I am NOT an expert!…

chopstick thrower says:

look my friend,i have been using the kubaton for many years , now what you
are stating is basically you can’t use the kubaton without practice and
knowledge, well guess what, that’s literally every other weapon, you just
don’t like it cause it requires actual skill and you cant go hack and slash
like you can with a dagger which is understandable, but all weapon require
knowledge,if you put a master kubaton guy vs a random dude with a sword
then the guy with the kubaton will win ofcourse and visa versa, you’re
statement is saying you want a weapon that requires no knowledge when truly
every weapon requires knowledge

Foin Morrison says:

You’re not a expert is right. To me it was one of the most effective tools
working at a SD. I would this over the asp any days of the week. Learn to
use it, train, and it can become of your best friends.

darthcual says:

Volunteer to have your face smacked with keys on the end of a kubaton. I’ve
seen it draw blood on accidental contact in training. It might have ripped
the mans eye out had she really meant it. She was a first time user too.

Anders Johansson says:

My thoughts exactly, putting keys on it will only help you not forget it
when you leave the house. And it is not a weapon, just a blunt object. The
only time this is useful is if your attacker is unarmed and you need an
edge.

cape fear says:

cool

Acciarito Steven says:

The only thing I believe is when you said “you are not an expert”. This is
a great little item to have.

diazaman says:

I disagree…anything is better then nothing…
You seem to think someones going to try using this against a trained
assailant, with a gun or knife…which unless you’re highly trained, is
extremely stupid….
But real world scenarios, dictate that your most likely gonna be attacked
by young drunk idiots…and in this situ, I can see it being helpful…
Plus the way the law favors the con, then the least amount of damage to the
assailant, the better off you will do in court…Thats right Court!

Bob Bredsguard says:

As a retired law enforcement officer and Kubaton instructor, I would have
to say you do not know what you are talking about. When properly trained,
it is a very effective tool when other weapons are prohibited. The more
effective type is the one with a spike on one end. As with any self defense
tool you have to TRAIN!!

dvdfrnzwbr says:

No weapon is useful if you don’t know how to use it effectively.

DAN BARROS says:

I really beleive his point… many people would thinq they are powerfull
just for carring this tool… but a tool in a inocent hand is powerless…
by the way, ANYTHING in a trained hand s could be a weapon

thomas allen says:

ram this sucker into an attackers sternum. There going down

Daninja42 says:

Honestly, I think it can help someone that knows basically how to use it.
For me, I’m a blackbelt so I think it increases my self defense ability to
defend myself possibly agains morenthan one person.

Augustus Spencer says:

Your very correct sir. People need to know that the majority of their melee
self defense tools need training. At the heart any melee tools application
are the principals of empty hand combat. In most situations a person gets
into where they would think to use something like this they should simply
comply.Give the dude your wallet, stay not stabbed or shot. However many
situations exist that would prompt a violent resolve.

ache4dalake says:

I carry an Emerson CQC8 knife for EDC cutting chores AND for use as a
closed-blade, LTL, kubaton-style weapon. It feels long, heavy, and awesome
in-hand and even without specific training, common sense tells me a bad
guy’s chest, shoulder, thigh, face will hurt alot… and my knuckles/hands
won’t. I doubt that I would ever stick a blade in another man, too
personal, but that’s just me. I’ll shoot or die I guess.

GraymanTactics says:

he never said otherwise just that the amount of training for what you get
is a bit off balance.

ache4dalake says:

My SD plan goes like this; for deadly force – firearm. But I want to have a
less-than-lethal option. It is highly unlikely that I will ever encounter a
“deadly force” situation in my lifetime (hopefully). Drunk young
testosteronic males… much more likely to occur. I think a kubaton-type
weapon would give me the edge I need to end this type of confrontation
without losing.

Are you saying this is more for confidence?
