Knife Choosing for Self Defense

Video for Sledge1776 This is just my personal choice & recommendation for modern urban self-defense setting. Obviously for home invasion or being in a combat…

in germany we are legaly not allowed to carry the combination of one handed
opening and locking, both seperate would be ok but that doesnt work for me,
but luckily we are allowed to carry fixed blades under 4.8 inches so thats
my choise just subbed apreciate your work

HisGrandHoliness TheGrump says:

looks and intimidation factor mean nothing in the eyes of the law if you
have a decent lawyer or know the laws yourself. i edc a fox 478 karambit
and it is no different legally than a fixed blade of the same size

GIFPES says:

ilegal, ilegal, ilegal…sounds like a brazilian speaking! In fucking
Brazil everything is ilegal, but the criminal’s weapons!

Coolnicknameguy says:

I hate reversed grip knife fighting, looks cool in movies but in real life
it shortens your reach, I youst to love reverse grip tell I got stabed and
missed trying to stab back, after that I have been sticking to normal grip
πŸ™‚ by the way I had on a leather jacket so I lucked out and only the tip
got me vs 2 to 3 inches of the 5 inch blace, didnt even put on a bandaid
let alone go to the hospital, had I not had the jacket I woulda been in
some trouble

Coolnicknameguy says:

lil spring assist knife, easy to deploy like a switchblade but still legal
and 90% of the time they have a glass breaker on the butt of the handle,
pomel I think its called? so you could bash a bum over the head if you dont
wana stab him but have to stop him from stealing your fruit, if you cut
alot of roap and string get 1 with serations if its for basicly cuting
apples than get a full edge with no serations, I know you didnt ask me but
hopefull I helped ya out none the less

AAznShotMe says:

And if not I ask you if there is a certain karambit style for normal
folding knives or if I can just transfer my skills over and use the folder
as if it were a karambit

wmpyr says:

bro I am not a knife collector, so I don’t have a ton of knives, and I do
not like to make statements on knives that I do not own or have any
experience with, some other people might, but I don’t feel right about
that. The 2 inch knife that you use all the time at work, well that says
your actually use it, and at work, so you should know it well, plus it has
only a 2 inch blade, I think that is your knife right there bro.

TJvigilante says:

Just keep a hone with you. A Carbide/ceramic V-notch sharpener if you don’t
mind the generic edge angle they give is all you should need. And depending
on what you’re cutting on a regular basis, even a relatively dull blade
will still do more than enough damage to an assailant.

Tero Kaikkonen says:

that’s a good knife. i prefer Marttiini folding knife MFK-2. it’s more
endurable and has enough weight that you’re not in trouble if u don’t have
time to open it..

inflameFX says:

what do you think of the walther black tac? i got one very cheap and thougt
to myself, why not carry around, just in case. Would it be useful at all?

RandyLeftHandy says:

Check out the Mora-Kniv knives. They’re razor sharp, ergonomic, and
economical.

Jigsaww92 says:

your “chosen enemy?” doesn’t sound like self defense to me….and you sound
like a psychopath.

wmpyr says:

Hey bro thanx for your comment! name of the knife at 2:20? sorry I do not
know all it says is Miller’s Creek, it came like in a 10 pack and I threw
away the package. It is small, it fits in my altoids survival tin and I
keep it there.

Stian Helgesen Sellevold says:

what you are saying is true, but i like using it, It have saved my life one
time and i will still use it πŸ™‚ plus i got no problem with the cops πŸ˜€

Scorpiobg13 says:

Please say me some opinion about smith&Wesson HRT badge knife?! Thx great
videos You have, everything best from Serbia.

Alos21 says:

cheers for the reply mate, karambit is my weapon of choice so I am a bit
sensitive hehe great videos btw, will subscribe πŸ˜‰

ImUnited says:

Thank you.

Nestor Negron-Diaz says:

be punished with imprisonment for a fixed term of three (3) years. There
were aggravating circumstances, the fixed penalty may be increased to a
maximum of six (6) years of extenuating circumstances, it may be reduced to
a minimum of six (6) months and one (1) day.

itb20v says:

I wish i could carry my bailsong what do you think about the CRKT M16-13Z
for a self defence knife?

Jesse Robinson says:

Shooting to “Wound” will land you a heavy law suit If your state has a CCW
class take one you need to further your knowledge on gun laws.

sotto2 says:

Thanks for your thoughtful video. Lately, I’ve been giving some
consideration to the aftermath of a self-defense encounter. For example,
what might happen if your attacker were only relatively slightly injured by
your use of a self defense tool, such as a knife. I wonder how things might
go down for you later if, say, they and their associates lay in wait for
you to extract some revenge. Maybe it’s nothing to be concerned about at
all. Just something I’ve been thinking about. Thanks again.

wmpyr says:

hey bro, most of the time I carry the knife the way it was meant to be
carried, in your case using the shoulder strap, unless I REALLY love the
knife and REALLY hate the carry system, I don’t bother changing it, because
it can require me to purchase a custom kydex or some other elaborate thing
when I could have just bought a knife that came with the carry system I
like πŸ™‚

wmpyr says:

sounds good! but gotta be careful, what a knife enthusiast thinks of as
medium size, the public generally views as large lol I remember using a
medium sized utility knife for outdoor cutting and it freaked out the
gentleman that I was with πŸ™‚

DanceDanceGrazzlebrand says:

What are your thoughts on the Spyderco resilience? (6″ blade, non serrated)

spartan231490 says:

technically yes, but do that and you’ll still be detained and questioned as
to why you’re carrying a sword. The cops need very little reason to arrest
you, even if they can’t charge you.

Dave Biddle says:

The knife looks great and I like the blade shape but mine is a piece of
junk. The knife is not designed to open quickly and the blade moves
roughly. Plus, the profile is all on one side of the blade – the other side
is flat. When you tap the handle, it sounds like hollow cheap plastic. It
looks great in pictures but it’s $10 knife quality.

Bodhi Choy says:

I definitely agree with you. I’ve been taking into consideration my state
laws against knives, and what types are regulated and what not, its all
real important stuff to know. Some knives you can even be arrested for
possessing! So I agree with your choice for a self defense knife.

wmpyr says:

Thanx for checking it out bro!

Marcus Mayeu says:

What was that last knife

Timothy Watson says:

What is the last knife you were showing?

Nestor Negron-Diaz says:

knife, dirk, dagger, sword, slingshot, cane sword, spear, knife, stiletto,
awl, or any similar instrument that is treated as a weapon, including
leaves of safety razors, clubs and hypodermic needles or syringes with
needles or similar instruments, and guilty of a felony upon conviction, be
punished with

eVaNb63 says:

Dude whered u get those earings there badass as hell!

Coolnicknameguy says:

for self defense Id go with the windlass cobrasteel falcata, lol but thats
a bit big after that Id go with the tops power egale but thats a bit big
too, for edc than Id have to go with the largest spring assisted knife I
can find with serrations on the spince so I can sneak up behind some 1 and
saw through there neck with out switching my grip πŸ™‚ vs serrations on the
blades edge,BUT I tend to do the best with peper spray and a hammer rock
brick basicly any thing I can smash a scull πŸ™‚

hellwolf882 says:

What are the knives at 1:51?

Flamzer91 says:

Are there any good Cold Steel knives you would recommend?

jimjimwars says:

Yeah but if you are trained in any fighting style then its illegal for you
to beat anyone up because your considered a weapon.

vansurfing says:

before i got into gun and knives i wanted to go to NYC. Now i probably will
never go there.

wmpyr says:

KA-BAR TDI LE knife
