Also John, I think a good point to address in some of these "angry mob" sort of civilian interventions is to imagine yourself as the criminal involved… you have to weigh how dangerous it is for you to get involved VS what it would mean if you didn't… but people need to remember that criminals will right or wrongly defend their lives if they are being "attacked" by an angry mob. So its just something to think about… like this might have been a half-hearted attempt at a goofy scam and these guys might have been fairly unlikely to kill anybody BUT if they are being cornered and held down etc… their perception of being caught/jailed etc… might out weigh their ability to resist harming people.
In India we have laws that prohibits us from owing , If u want to get it legally its a pain in d ass process ( I really mean it ) And d bad guys can get a locally manufactured revolver for like 20USD PLUS OUR LAW SUCKS IF U BEAT SOME ONE N DONT HAVE ENOUGH RESOURCES (POWER N MONEY ) CHANCES R U MAY END UP IN TROUBLE (LEGALLY)
RECENTLY IN MY LOCALITY A GUY TRIED TO ROB FROM A SHOPS COUNTER , THE SHOP OWNER LOCKED THE GUY INSIDE AND THEN FEE OTHER PEOPLE GATHERED AND THEN THEY GOT INSIDE THE SHOP AND GAVE THE ROBBER A GOOD BEATING , AND AFTER SOMETIME WHEN THE COP ARRIVED THE ROBBER TOLD THAT HE HAS BEEN ROBBED AND BEATEN BY SHOP OWNER THE SHOP OWNER HAD NO CCTV SO HE ENDED UP THE ONE WHO WAS LOCKED UP
even if the police know the truth they will try to extort money from u as much as they can Like in this case the shop owner bribed them and he had to compromise with the robber
Not only this they even refuse to file case against heinous crimes like rape n murder (Just google it ) How whole family of rape victim have been murdered by rapists and cops were a part of it
