jeffdoeskungfu says:

“can you see someone behind you blindfolded?” joe drops a massive martial arts realism wisdom bomb. “so… can you see someone behind you blindfolded?”

Daryl Fields says:

Mma fighters and brazilian jujitsu should not be giving advice mma fighters don't training in protection or threat awareness

Proceon proceon says:

This is the thing most of the guys who are really into the mystical forms never really get into those competitions I've watched Buddhist monks beat the s*** out of some MMA guys I don't think that there's one particular style that's better than the other I think there's particular martial artists that I better then the other that's the thing you have to look at the whole person the whole being not just technique or not what is just kicking in boxing the thing of it is is that when we see these fight we know that mineral levels of martial arts fire kicking boxing and Jiu-Jitsu some are fairly easy to learn and some of them in a lot of respect you don't need to be as physically fit I've taken a Poquito for several years if you learned just technique along you don't have to be there physically fit but by the same token there's a whole lot of different techniques to learn what I did was I broke it down I just learned the fundamentals if you can joint lock or stop a person's body from its natural movement you can break the Rhythm and then perhaps defeat them simple a lot of times people get into a lot of these different martial arts techniques and they figure they got the magic spell to be everyone it all depends on the artist not the martial art itself if anybody would be a fool not to take what works and put it into the repertoire

Tom Liver says:

Systema since 3 years

Tom Liver says:

Joe is a true warrior, his kicks are insane. I am a trained Thai Boxer for 30 years, started out with RMA (Systema). Thought it was a joke before meeting Martin Wheeler at a seminar. Never got hit as hard as by Martin. Systema changed my body with 48 to a 25 year old. It is due to lack of tension. Joe, go and visit Martin in Beverly Hills, he is a tough mf. Haters should try it. Invite him to your show. I will keep watching you.

Horse Radish says:

the "hmm" and "mmhm" every other word Joe says are so annoying, I guess it shows the dude is listening intently but fuck

ya boi says:

Martial arts are for attacking. To me a self defence martial art is contradictory.

Wills Pram says:

Martial arts (the real ones at least) don't teach threat awareness because:
1) It's a natural feeling that everybody feels. (Imagine walking down a shady alley at night, that tingly feeling is your threat awareness or maybe climbing up a cliff with no safety rope)

2) You'll gain a much better understanding of threat handling in a self-defense scenario. (Do you run away? what are the consequences if you stay and fight?) Sparring comes with the understanding of limitations.

3) If you've ever been shit on by a bird or you've ever been hit by anything on the back of the head, then a guy with a baseball bat can probably land a few hits without you noticing.

Barakat says:

If your not tapping or hitting or getting hit your wasting your time

MozartificeR says:

It works on someone who doesn't know how to defend themselves; unless the self defense practitioner has a ton of weight. So you can get a large female cop; trained to stand and punch, and she can take out a Brazilian jujitsu black belt. (Of course when there is a 60 kg weight difference)

Sebastian Wardana says:

You ned to feel afraid of your safety to start judgeing threats around you…

John Grand says:

"it seems possible you could develop spider sense. But yknow, it's not my world" yea… Cause it's the marvel world.

John Small says:

parkour can be quite handy

Ranch Life says:

A strong, large or just street tough individual will beat the shit out of most martial artist 98% of the time. Why waste your time on bullshido? We have thousands of videos showing what really works and what doesn't. Study BJJ, Muy Thai, Wrestling, Western Boxing…MMA. I would bet on a legit Blue Belt in BJJ in a street fight against any supposed Martial Arts master let alone student of another discipline.

gussstavo says:

Hot yoga on dmt is how i train for fighting

Ανδρέας Θεοδώρου says:

Ι can see there's too much bullshit self-defence in the US. But I guess there must be too many self proclaimed Krav Maga "experts", who know nothing of self-defense and make a bad name out of Krav Maga. Is that so?

jonathan velde says:

Sparring is key,

Dark Ra says:

Are we not just talking about training? isn't the blindfold exercise just to teach you the value of awareness and detection? I don't think anyone is advocating the best way to fight someone and win is with a blindfold.

w77eed says:

Wouldn't CIA, undercover type of guy's would need some threat awareness training.

Juan Delgado says:

How tf this got negative likes is beyond me 😂

Rafael Roquemore says:

We tried blindfolding in my first mma gym just for fun. Kept it light, but it was still hard. It would depend on the environment, but if you can feel the persons footsteps, cuz some people are heavy and make noise when they step, or smell them better cuz of the limited use of eyes, it could be possible. But unless you've lived your life blind, idk if itd really work.

Praz55 says:

The best self defense is to not exist in the first place.

Rafael Vasconcellos says:

Best self defense is a gun

daniel jonsson says:

Context is for kings, self defence against what? a releativ who has become psyciotic and wields a knife, some guy that things you looked at there girlfriend in a unsuitibale way?, armed robbers? were? abonded street?.
"
Trained killers"? shooters, bombers, poisoners? spear wielding maniac?.
Why is the fight taking place? what does the attacker want? money (maybe give it to them?), rape you?, Wants your "respect" lol.

Be nice to people goes along way, descalte always if you can, run if you cant fight as a last resort.
Apologize for my bad English, have a god day.

flatwhite what else? says:

The best self defence is having a face like john malkovich. No one will pick you

James Faul says:

Actually! Being blindfolded and taught threat awareness is absolutely a skill and was taught by the original ninja. It is meant to get you use to using your other senses when you cannot see. It's training while being blind basically

Joshua Brooks says:

How would you train the ability to detect whether someone is looking at you and from what direction?
"Ooh, those photons that just left my back feel like they entered into a cornea north-northwest."

selfinflictedjoy says:

The best martial arts defense hand's down is called Ushan Bolt
