Thank you I carry 9mm jacketed hollow point. It’s only an 8 round magazine. However I carry two extra magazines with me. I also carry with one in the chamber without a safety so to speak. My safety is my holster it covers the complete trigger, so there can't be a negligent misfire
I have a .40 cal and a 9mm….I love them both, honestly tho the gun that absolutely intriges me the most is the fiveseven! I want a fiveseven so mf bad I can taste it….
Is 9mm best for self defense? No. There's no magic bullet, accuracy and having a firearm with you is key. A .50 cal to a criminals toe is less effective than a .22 lr to the head. Find the largest caliber in a bonded hollow point that you can shoot WELL with is usually the rule.
The size of the fight in the dog is more important than any caliber. But there's no money in that. So instead we push the latest and greatest weapons and ammo. "You only have 10 rounds! You gotta have this one it has 12 rounds!!"
9mm isn't even close to the best handgun caliber for self defense. It's like the Honda Civic/Toyota Corolla of handgun calibers.
Many of us treat handgun calibers like they're death rays, but they're not. That's Hollywood! I like how Tom Givens put it: "The handgun is a drill with a long bit." Tom demonstrated how handgun calibers are underpowered enough that you can stop the slide from coming back with just your thumb. They're are a couple videos on YouTube of him demonstrating that with a 9mm Glock.
Handgun calibers are impotent and underpowered compared to shotgun and rifle calibers. Never be surprised if you have to shoot an assailant multiple times! Now, are large caliber handguns more effective than small caliber handguns?. Used properly, yes. They've proved themselves since the Philippine Insurrection against the Moro Juramentados. However, not even large caliber handguns can compete with the power and effectiveness of shotgun and rifle calibers.
I personally rely on .45 ACP for a defensive handgun caliber. That being said, my primary defensive gun is a Mossberg Maverick 88 12 GA loaded with 00 Buckshot. For self defense, I'd much rather grab a shotgun or carbine than a handgun.
The power of .380 ACP guns is noticeably below that of 9mm weapons. The maximum velocity (1000 FPS) and energy ratings (148 MPa) of the .380 are about 40% below a 9mm, both using JHP+P type loads. While this means the .380 is less destructive, it also performs with less of a recoil, making it a more accurate weapon in short-range, rapid-fire use.
Use bulleye..best for pistol
Eats barrel..to..
Don't waste your money..on 40.

Want lead shot..jacket hurts barr
So any ammo..is good

Love..45 has stopping power

Speergolddot 124+p is the best
Manufacturers drive which caliber is the most popular, by offering more different designs and lower cost ammunition.

40 has less pressure than 9 or 45. But it’s used in guns that were made for 9 so it has more felt recoil.

Is 9MM Best Self Defense Ammo? No.
-From a .45ACP Guy
Yes the 9mm is plentiful but when SHTF what round will fly off the shelf first? It will not be the 40 sw.
I would like to see a video on which is the best 9mm hollow point specification for grain and also +-P for an EDC gun (i.e. G43x, P365X series, etc).

IMO – never use "planking, range or re-load ammo" for self defense. My life is far more valuable than the few dollars saved on "cheap ammo"!

Most striker fired, compact, polymer .40 cals are just too small, and light to compensate for the recoil.
I love the round, and it's ballistics, but it's too much recoil for conceal carry for me.
9mm is the sweet spot for conceal carry

357 sig. in my opinion. Biden said 9mm will blow the lungs out so maybe it is the best.
