Improvised EDC Self Defense Tools

Sensible Prepper Presents: Improvised Self Defense Tools Using the items you carry Everyday. There are times when a weapon is forbidden, whether at an airport, ball game, concert or Government building. Being able to use EDC items for self defense could get you out of a sticky situation even if you don’t have a firearm or blade on hand. Effective tactics for me to consider.  Thanks Don.

It's really funny that you posted this because I have been thinking about this concept a lot these past few weeks. In fact this evening I made a mental plan in my head for which items in my grocery cart would be the most useful if someone tried to rob the cashier. Keep calm and improvise on!

Roy Parman says:

Alot of those canes have a bit of spike at the bottom, for grip on ice and such… that alone'd be handy if you needed to defend yourself against some styrofoam dummy, for sure… and the coins in a sock — try a bar of soap if you don't have the change handy, it'll hit like a fist of bricks with a good hardy swing. Just don't try to use any of my suggestions when your wife comes at you for messin' up her cup, I said nothing. 😡

great video! there are great old books on improvised weapons both edc and household items

David Kay says:

When I was younger I used my asthma inhaler. You can hold it in your hand so that it fills the hand better than a roll of quarters. I have a cane now and took a self defense class with that cane. With a good strike it is like swinging an axe.

Xavier S says:

They wanna mug you? Mug them back! With coffee! Lol

Where do I get one of those "cat key chains"? I'd love my daughters to have one.

Scott Hill says:

Does anyone remember the old BIC pen commercial were the shot a BIC pen through a 2×4? Then they wrote with the pen. (yes I'm a old guy) That just illustrates how a pen can be a great effective striking weapon. The Kubaton is another one.

kmrocker 69 says:

Awesome video. Please make this on going as you get more ideas.

john wyatt says:

Greattttt Video!

Rouge Scout19D says:

Love watching all of your vids on both channels. Keep up the great work.

Big Al says:

Great video as always Sootch! Here in the UK we have a ton of restrictions on what we can carry legally. I carry my keys on a neck lanyard, I could get quite a swing on them to increase my range. It would hurt!

Mary Cahill says:

Nice to see some non-lethal weapons. I think you would be better off blinding your assailant with the strobe function of a good flashlight in your left hand while you bash the fellow with something in your right (dominant) hand like a metal pen. I also like the metal water bottle in the backpack for students — ubiquitous. My favorite: Just a flashlight and a strong sense of caution, be aware of my environment. Also, I NEVER wear high heeled shoes!

william keil says:

good video , lol

egads2 says:

Ye Olde Kubaton…polymer or metal.

bibi green says:

Take care of your health and fitness level too! Having effective objects is cool and helpful, but being solid and mobile physically is important too!

A boy and his rifle. says:

What about a clump of keys in the end of a good lanyard? Got yourself a flail right there. Connect with temple and that will cause some damage.

sawyer tabit says:

I'd say the #1 tool used to defend yourself is your brain.
