I Tried The World's BEST Self Defense

Since I became afraid and lost my confidence after getting attacked multiple times, I tried one of the world’s best self-defense systems and took part in some of their most intense tests, to see if it can help me overcome my fear of getting attacked and gain my confidence back. Learn more about Andy Norman and Defence Lab here: https://www.defencelab.com/ — Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey YouTube channel! My name is Rokas. I’m a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises. Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton. After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my YouTube channel called “Martial Arts Journey”. Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries. — If you want to support my journey, you can make a donation to my PayPal at [email protected] SUBSCRIBE to see when the next videos will come out: ► http://bit.ly/1KPZpv0 Check the video “Aikido vs MMA” which started this whole Martial Arts Journey: ► https://youtu.be/0KUXTC8g_pk If you want to support me and this channel on a regular basis check my Patreon page: ► https://www.patreon.com/rokasleo #selfdefense #martialarts #fighting

Biggum Stevens says:

I see issues with efficiency

Why would you punch the attackers forearm, when his chin is just a few inches away? Why set up a secondary hit, when you can go strait to a primary strike that could end the fight? The covering up and attacking at the same time I see as very practical and reasonable, but its getting close to the jeet kun do levels of fantasy striking "punch the arm that punches you"

Jackson Muay Thai says:

I really liked the intro, editing, and camera work of this one! However, I have serious doubts about defence labs system. I like armchair violence’s review of it, he made some good points and criticisms

Biggum Stevens says:

It seems very practical.

Maxim Movie says:

I love this is is going to help me to to get over the fear of fighting

Science-Stein channel says:

I am no expert, but I suggest that you alter your body language too. Because, attackers often attack people who seem weaker, even though you may be proficient at martial arts. Also, your body language has an effect on your psychology and self perception and vice versa. Just consider taking this piece of advice. People kept telling me that, and it has had impact in my life

Gruff _ says:

Looks kinda useless to me, fake movie type martial art

Gianandrea Giacoma says:

Your videos are always very interesting. It would be very helpful to see a comparison of the best self defense styles.

Philippe Fanaro says:

No discussion of open and closed fists?

Pyram Idiot says:

It's hard to believe this isn't an old martial art, the table manners and thinking man are so 'logical' why hasn't someone formalised this into an art until now? Impressive stuff Rokas, great video. (edit) – Sweet thumbnail too.

Bratwurst statt Sucuk says:

Can you make a Video training with Middle Eastern or Caucasian Wrestlers? Maybe even Mongolian Wrestlers

BacatauMania says:

I hope you do a video with RED/KMRED someday
I always liked their approach as self defense system

Cthulhu-Jitsu says:

Unpopular opinion, if you're facing 6 guys with knives, you're screwed regardless of training. No one will win that fight.

jkrjhn8 says:

Have you looked into Senshido?

walkingwithgiants1 says:

Thank you for all the wonderful content that you produce.
In the future, whoever has you as a teacher shall be blessed.

Shadow Fighter 64 says:

Should have worn a Batman shirt for this.
This must have been a really cool experience.
Thank you for sharing ☺️.

gingercore69 says:

If you want real multiple oponents, go to sipalki… In one class i had to fight 4 people at the same time by myself, but i was allowed to move arround, shelling up like in the video might work if yoy have no wsy to go… But if you have enough space you need to win one of their backs and push them sgainst the others… Its not easy, but its easier than just shelling up and surviving… If you sre not tough to begin with

Christopher Chalk says:

hey there MAJ, how are you bro?
do you have ever considered aikido to be a weapon fighting system rather than an unarmed one? I mean i have practice aikido for about 10 years and now i ve moved to boxing. BUT i know that i cannot damage an opponent using aikido but i can pretty much avoid the strikes easier from most of people(that was the whole idea of aikido). On the other hand i always liked Jo and i used to weapon spar with protective gear with my friends. Excluding HEMA, i saw that aikido gives a pretty good training in weapons compared to other styles, considering that you have to get out and experiment with those skills because no sparing no skill.

Hybrid Karate says:

My issue about this is the same about keisy fighting method (the inspiration of this one I believe). You go inside a very close quarters distance always….should you be there in the first place? ….

DeadMeat Games says:

I remember this talk with my dad when I was a young scared kid. "What if i lose?" He smiled and said "Do your best, but sometimes life serves you a s#it sandwich. Make sure you you bring your hot sauce." In other words. Beleive in what you stand in and be spiritually fit in case your best isn't enough.

Piotr D. says:

"Fighting is not about knowing how, but chosing to". BTW: there's self-defence school in Poland which kinda…. orchestrates street assault on trainee as semi surprise.

Stuart Paul says:

when there's a large group of men use to violence and only one potential victim, I don't care if that potential victim is the legendary Steve Morris, there's a high probability he's going to get hurt and be scared. In the ring, yes you can be hurt badly and loose your life, but there's boundaries, a ref and a doctor.

Eden Nathenson says:

Loving this more cinematic format !
