Great objective video! But keep in mind that real pepperspray is illegal in several countries (e.g. the EU, in sweden it goes under the same paragraph as carrying a gun!! Crazy!) I carry a legal acetone/gel variant. I find it great as an ad-on, probably more for confrontations or standoff-situations than an up-in-your-face brawl. I've only ever used mine once, and it did "diffuse" the situation without having to get close/strike. If i'm on alert/scared and walking I usually keep one or both hands in my jacket, left hand clutching the spray and/or right hand clutching a small flashlight (for blinding and striking, right-handed). I see it as a competative edge, people don't expect you to be "armed" if you're a nice guy 🙂

Ryan Durkin says:

pepper spray is also a prohibited device.

Ricardo Negron says:

This makes sense, even when Im carrying something like a kubotan, pepper spray, or a knife in most confrontations I've been the first thought that intuitively came to mind was my hand to hand combat. only once did I flash a folding knife as a warning to two huge mma fighters. Hand to hand combat training is a real must even if you carry something.

A few additional points:
* There is a difference between pepper spray and C.S. gas. The former is generally more effective. Learn the difference and know what you're buying.
* All pepper sprays are not created equal. A lot of the stuff out there is meant for defense against animals and will have a much reduced effect on a human attacker, especially one who may have built some resistance to it.
* There is pepper spray, pepper gel, and pepper foam. There are different dispersion patterns, each with their pros and cons. Learn them.
* TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN! Practice using it.
* As you guys say, pepper spray, just like a taser or a firearm, is not a substitute for (1) self-defense skills, and (2) awareness.

How do you defend against pepper spray?

1 pc user says:

can you please make one for how to use our bag as a weapon?

Richard Benson says:

just an fyi the typical expiration date for most oc (pepper spray) is 3 years after the date of manufacturer. Also you need to aware of any aerosol leaks since that the propellant that "launches" the spray. Also heat can be an issue especially if you leave it in your car or when your at work or such so it doesn't explode in your vehicle.

Munim Jamal says:

can you do a at home workout with no equipment. thanks

Lucky Devil Guns & Gold says:

Yea don't get too attached to your firearms, knives, ASP batons, pepper spray, etc. as tools for self defense cause then Nick and his he/she friend will be out of the hand to hand self defense vlog business. Right Nicky?
