When i was in college a guy scaled up the side of the dorm, crawled thru the window and was waiting in the dark for me in my dorm room when i came in. He locked the door and started throwing me around ( he was my ex boyfriend). I reacted out of fear and punched his face when he came at me again. Stunned him, broke his nose.I unlocked the door and got out. People were trying to get in door and rescue me and the cops were on the way.Broke a bone in my hand cuz i did not know how to really punch but it gave me time to get out and away.
I'd like to share some pertinent information from my own personal street fighting experience, it's not a good idea to punch someone in the mouth with your fist! Why? INFECTION! It happened to me. This scumbag sucker punched me and it was on! His teeth cut my knuckles while I returned punches and my hand had swollen up twice the size by the next day. The swelling started going up my forearm. I went to the doctor and got some antibiotics. It could probably happen with a palm strike. I prefer side palm strikes to the ears, nose, etc. stay away from the mouth! The human mouth is the nastiest part of the body. It contains so much bacteria. Be safe people. Thanks for this video, Mr. Hanson!
Personal safety is extremely important but I'd rather be sure before hitting someone that they have an intent to harm me. Appreciate these training videos but not in favor of a blanket approach to attack first with a justification of personal defense.
great video, I like having your hands open so if they aggressively enter your personal space, palm/heal strikes very effective as many strikes that is needed to stop them.
I just love these simple yet effective techniques. This one in particular is great for those my age starting to get arthritis in the fingers. Buy the book from Jason entitled, "Quick & Dirty Combat"
Love the videos Jason, your doing a great service to us all for teaching the essentials of safety and self defense. Read your book several times. I read an article you shared about how Paul Vunak disarmed multiple people in a bar, I just wanted to ask was it multiple people with knives, and other weapons or multiple gunmen? Either way that is a very impressive feat and displays his incredible knowledge in JKD and various other martial arts he trained in under Dan Inosanto.
This is a good video. I trained in A.K.K.I. Kenpo for years, and we used A Lot of palm strikes. They are Very effective. You won't break your hand using a palm strike. They have a yt page, and like the man said, it doesn't look like much but we trained full contact. It hurts, and you know it works. Nothing fancy, but deadly efficient. Paul Mills is The Man.
Excellent Basic Training, perfect for the UN Planned situation, the dojo or ring is another thing, this is real world for anyone. ps: if you have special training, keep it to yourself, especially in court. π¬ Bless you for helping manyπ
Your thumbnail caught my attention. My former Karate Sensei Fumio Damura is pictured.

The animals just have a technique they do perfectly and that has served them well throughout history.
Excellent video, followed by an old Eddie Futch quote, " Punches in bunches!", would be nice
