Here's an idea, when someone is mentally unstable family member, DON'T call police. They are 90% going to get shot. You love them or want them dead? That's the choice there. If this person isn't doing any harm, don't call police. You are putting them to death by doing that. Call up nearby friends, family to help.
That last shot was definitely the one that killed him, looked like a heart shot or maybe severed his spinal cord. That was the only shot I'd say wasn't justified too. He had nothing in his hands and was running away at that point, and they put one more shot into him which killed him.
'Crisis-trained officers' doesn't mean shit. The entire crisis training course totals 40 hours, and most officers are probably half asleep for most of it. Compare that to the 4 YEARS people have to study for to become a psychologist and you will see why 40 hours isn't nearly enough. CIT is more of a formailty than an actual tool that can be used by officers. "Don't worry we're CIT so we will talk to the person in crisis like a baby for a few minutes before shooting them instead of shooting them straight away"
Its pretty disgusting how America deal with its mentally i'll, im glad i live in England where our police deal with mental health break down calls professionally and with great skill.
