i love this album and the 4 that followed it. ive actually never heard this
version i have the mans ruin one with the other cover. that one only has
six songs is what im getting at. this might sound weird, but high on fire
is a band for me that if you put it on i will jam the fuck out of it all
night but the minute i put it back on my shelf i wont reach for it for
months on end. i dont know if that makes any sense to anyone. i have a
huge collection of cd’s and lp’s but i always have my go to albums that i
play on a regular basis. some arent even as bad ass as this album but i
dont reach for this very often even though i love it. its like i never have
a jones to listen to it. its just one day as im scanning my collection and
this album hits my eye and im like “let me grab this” and i end up on a 2
hour car ride thru the texas back roads jamming it loud as fuck. anyone
else have that experience? not with this album per se but a particular
band or album??
It’s ironic for this to be the art of self defense when it’s really the art
of attack.
What ..don’t believe me … I played this at my party last week and had to
buy two sheets of drywall to repair the damage.
I listen to High on Fire for like 6 years now.. But till today I hadn’t
listened to this album.. I said “Come on, it’s their first, how good can it
be? ” I should have known better!!
While enjoying the pounding riffs of my favorite band, I am forced to look
to the right. The fake oriental ad from Chinese-lady.com makes me want to
puke. Google, not only are you “evil”, You suck ass so bad that the fecal
matter in your teeth makes your breath stinky and your kids unable to do
math.

Wonder if the title is based of Jesus Lizard’s song “The Art of Self
Defense.” Sounds slightly similar enough to maybe merit the connection?

And I thought sleep was a good band!! Sleep is still good but High on Fire
is definitely the superior band if you ask me.
