All that douche needs is one lucky moment in close combat with the officer to grab his gun. If he was willing to do that unprovoked than he had all the potential to turn it deadly and well simple thing don't attack an officer especially after using a taser and you won't get shot. The officer deserves to make sure he goes home to his family. Listen I understand that when someone attacks you that you should NOT play games with people like that. That said, kid was like 120lbs. To go from a push and a kick to you just have to shoot them is crazy. I don't want to critique but you should be able to handle someone like that without shooting them. You should be able to handle someone 1 on 1, because how was he planning to detain and handcuff the guy that was struggling?
I'm quite surprised of your appraisal of this police officers attack on himself and totally disagree with you. The size of a person doesn't matter. Watch the early days of UFC when there were no weight classes and a scrawny guy by the name of Joyce Gracie emerged after defeating many opponents much larger than him. The ferocity the attacker had was off the charts even after being tazed.
Well Im not sure how long you've been retired or separated from your department but this is a different world we live in. No officer in there right mind would put a knee anywhere near a subjects neck, shoulder or shoulder blades. Im not condoning anyones actions on any video but to Monday Night quarterback this officers actions is wrong and if you really were the police at one point in your life you should know that.
THIS IS VERY SIMPLE……attacked a cop……you will get shot. PERIOD. Dont attack anyone, specially a cop. WTF, there is no problem in my view. IT IS RISK FOR THE COP!!!! IF HE TAKES HIS GUN AND KILLS THE COP???? COME ON.
Not enough officers know how to handle themselves in a hand to hand situation. There is far too much reliance on less than lethal weapons, and not enough on how to defend with hands and feet.
