This can very much be applied to our lifestyles too, except that the criticism has turned into blatant and blind hate. We always have to be careful when living the lives we want to live, because some people are willing to hurt us for that alone, in spite of risking getting into trouble for it. We always should fight back against evil, no matter where it is or who we are, for they won't think twice about bringing the fight to you without warning.
This is NYC, so if these low life thugs are caught, they will be instantly released without bail as long as they pinky-swear to show up for their arraignment in court. RIP NYC.

Although it is extremely difficult to obtain a carry concealed permit in NYC it is not impossible but rare. Upstate NY permits are issued by the individual county judges it is still possible to get a permit to carry after a lengthy and arduous process including a background check worthy of it's name including references and gun safety classes which I missed out on as I obtained my permit in 1968 in just a very few weeks and far less paperwork. Following that the law states that you may not be denied a permit if you qualify. Some judges have however have slowed the process in order to discourage new permit holders. Although issued by individual counties the CCPermits are valid and you can carry in all other counties in upstate NY but not NYC and can only be revoked by the judge that issued them. I must commend "Active Self Protection" as it has caused me to rethink my response strategy for the better (never too old to learn) and as a Jew I wish to thank you for pointing out the current threat we are living with. I never imagined that I would need to worry about going into town or being home alone in a rural area and to be considered a traitor if I vote a certain way or am an "other" Never Again! Bear spray doesn't work as good on humans but it does work from 32 feet away. Which then gives you time to run or pull out a weapon or call an off-duty Brazilian cop.

In all fairness, without a news story we don't know for sure why they attacked him. I think it's more probable this was a robbery.
