missile impacts the plane and then explodes. It does not explode in the
vicinity of the plane/air target and try to kill with shrapnel, flak, or
flechettes.
The Buk is a very capable medium range SAM that can take down nimble
fighter jets so a passenger airliner would have no chance of evasion. If a
Buk missile were to hit a passenger plane, the likely outcome is that the
plane explodes in mid air into two pieces, if lucky, the evidence of
missile impact on the plane’s body would be very obvious, and the inside of
the plane would have been burnt out due to the explosion igniting the
plane’s fuel.
That’s not what happened. There is video of the plane on fire while still
flying in the air. What happened to the passenger plane was that it was
made unable to fly and uncontrollable then it crash landed and the landing
impact destroyed the plane that’s why some of the debris from the plane was
very well preserved.
Also anyone looking at the radar screen would have noticed a huge
difference in the size of radar signature of a passenger plane compared to
other air targets.
