Jamie Hitt says:

I'm sorry. But I couldn't help but visualize these large, beautiful, Maple cabinets, …with lights and etched glass, …just filled with custom heirloom quality pipe wrenches. People saying, "…And this one here was my grandfather's 36"/900mm aluminium handled Ridgid Model 836! Ain't she a beauty?"

GunsOfMassEffect says:

I love Canada, traveled many times thru the country, but that in itself of the process of defending myself with a firearm, would be the reason I wouldn't live in Canada and I had thought about moving their in my younger years.

James Swain says:

I’m feel for to our neighbors to the north who just want to defend them and their families. We do have it a little better in the US and even better here in Texas. We can actually walk up to our state capital carrying a ANY long gun. It does make the state troopers very cautious and they will approach and question your intent. But then to our southern border it’s an even worse.

RoughDraft says:

You have the facts wrong. The case you talk about in Sask. the farmer in question ended up fireing a shot and killed a young man. He also fired some shots over the heads of some fleeing people. He got off on a “hangfire” defense. Read about it. Colton Boushie. Not sure I spelled his last name properly. I feel he should have been convicted on a lesser offense, but ended up getting off completely.

michael nixson says:

Going to court is the last of your problems if you bring the gun to bear and freeze up.! I’ve seen adrenaline get the worse of someone rendering them a danger to themselves. If you got a gun it’s just as important to train with it as realistically as possible. If you’re dedicated enough to do that, sticking on an hour each session concerning your local laws should be a must. No point saving your life and then having to spend years of it behind bars.
Remember that Canada is owned by the Crown and in my view, you will never have justice while you’re in that situation.

SuperFlatrock says:

I think it is useful to know the law regarding the use of firearms in self defense. I don't think the approach the authorities take after the use of a firearm in self-defense is much different in the USA. If you think you can shoot someone, and the authorities will shrug their shoulders and let you off with it, think again. They will put you through the courts at your considerable expense before it is over. The only real difference between here and Canada is that there is no personal carry so there is no use of a gun in self defense outside the home.

shazzzam79 says:

You have rights and freedoms in Canada*

* If you have the money to defend them.

Aaron Phillips says:

WildandLiving says:

Police officers will even say blast away. They take hours in some areas they say you do what you got to do

Chris NCR says:

Two of my favourite Canadian spokesmen! Keep up the fight guys, I will definitely keep supporting you both!

cs says:

Massad Ayoob is an encyclopedia of knowledge on this general topic. It’s USA based, but a lot of the principles sound quite similar.

frisky wildthing says:

Self defense—the inalienable right to defend oneself—is the most primal of all basic human rights in that this right manifests in nature in countless ways and transcends all other constitutionally-protected rights, including freedom of expression.

The Framers of the U.S. Constitution understood two things. Human history, and human nature. They understood virtually every human who’d ever existed lived under some form of tyranny or threat of violence. Consequently, when they ratified the U.S. Constitution (to codify the LIMITS of government), and established the system of Checks and Balances to impede (if not eliminate) abuses of power; they created the 2nd Amendment to be a further check on ABUSIVE overreaching GOVERNMENT.

Government cannot give us the right to defend ourselves any more than it can bestow the right to live—government can only impede through laws, regulations and force. The U.S. Constitution, likewise, doesn’t GIVE us our rights—it spells out those inalienable rights (which ALL people are born with) that government CANNOT take away without due (constitutional) process.

Any government that seeks to disarm its law-abiding citizens is a government to beware.

John Lord says:

The perfect payback for allowing (worthless) lawyers and unbelievers into the political occupation … and getting your whole nation overthrown by evil, darkness, lawlessness, under the coat of judicial scofflaw judges and all the politicians. Go make your own comment lines – fooking stoopid trolls, full and open speech means full and open speech. You make your comments on your own line – I make mine on mine ….

Mike Helton Survival and Prepping says:

Glad i am in the USA here we can use a firearm no question asked if someone breaks into your home its their bad luck Tennessee is a great state to defend yourself in

Gary Cottreau says:

What's up? People are making Apocalypse jokes like there's not tomorrow.

Thy Horror says:

All you must do is GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS for the allowed privileges to be prosecuted for using rights you gave up for the allowed privileges of a Licensed/Incorporated PERSONS. THAT IS INSANE ! ! !

People have Rights and Freedoms
PERSONS have allowed privileges with No Rights.
So what do you want to stand in court as ? That is what you as a Canadian must learn because it will not be taught to you.

Sarah Pride says:

American by birth, Southern by the Grace of God. Y’all should have joined our Revolution. We are Not Subjects, but citizens, with Liberty, and are each one, greater than our government per Our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Singleplytech says:

I'm going to buy a couple semi automatics before bill C71 gets shoved down our throats by that feminist douchebag Trudeau.
