John i don't think grappling is the best thing to do in a knife fight as we seen on the video in new york the kid went in for a double leg takedown and god stabbed and instantly died. If you are on the ground with someone with a knife i dont think they would win that fight no matter the skill level. Maybe a quick strike then evade would be the best to have him let go of the clothing. Just my opinion. Unless you have a video of defending against a knife with a grappling technique. I just think thats asking to get stabbed. Even if you mount a rear naked choke which i practiced since i was a kid and all the martial arts ive learned "i am a brown belt" and learned multiple styles of martial arts from kenpo to judo to jujitsu, akido, ninjitsu, krav and military fighting from the best sensi who is undefeated boxer wouldnt want to be on the ground or in any kind of fight with someone with a knife. Strike and run. Live another day
Thanks for mentioning spiritual fitness in this context of a murder. We just don't have a signed lease on our life, it's at best on loan from God. Salvation by faith in Jesus Christ is the most important thing in this life.
A few thoughts; the first man who was stabbed appeared to be older so, he was no match for the 29yo criminal. // Why weren't the two victims armed with a knife at the ready? One would imagine that being homeless for any length of time would teach you to have a knife ready and probably a baton/metal rod/walking stick, etc. // The man who died; why would he intervene if he didn't have a weapon himself? // The onlooker should've been on the phone with police instantly, imo
Imagine spending the rest of your life in prison due to lack of self control.. I understand if someone did u wrong but if it’s not self defense then they you under the prison for the rest of your life… God teaches self control.. amen ❤
A big lesson on footwork in general. I see guys hit the bags and think that's enough but the ability to manuever similar to a football player or boxer is even more important. Man, feel more awful for the friend that got involved when he didn't need to.
The knife has been both a defensive weapon and an offensive weapon for thousands of years, ever since early man first knapped the first one out of a piece of obsidian. If you get in a altercation with a perp, always assume it will go from bare fist to a knife, or a gun in short order.
Why do people still say "he brought a knife to a gun fight" thinking the guy with the knife doesn't have a chance? By the time someone that really knows how to use a knife makes his move its over with for the gun guy. Distance , time and readiness is your best defense to combat anyone with or without a weapon other than your mind and body.
