Emmy Eats a Japanese Self-Defense Forces Ration Pack (JSDF)
Tasting a Japanese Self-Defense Forces military ration pack or “miri meshi” on this Emmy Eats. Big thanks to gundog4314, kiwidudeMRE and gshultz9 for sending me this ration and for making…
Another wonderful video Emmy, and a great review! And thanks a LOT for the
shout out too! It’s nice that you can appreciate a ration for what it’s
designed for and not automatically dis it because it’s not “real” food.
I’m very impressed that you managed to make such a complete review in
under 9 minutes! Between Gundog, Kiwi Dude and myself I tend to be the
most “serious” reviewer, and I tend to put a lot of information (whether
useful or useless) in my videos. I try to edit my vids down as much as
possible, but can never seem to get them anywhere close to ten minutes.
I’ve been inspired to try harder. Thank you again!
Really did enjoy the second camera angle. I’m a huge fan of your laptop Web
cam videos because it reminds me of old Emmy videos but the quality here
keeps getting better and better.
The Japanese care more for their soldiers and take the time to make their
food appetizing. When I saw the MREs, I wasn’t surprised. Americans are
horrible at cooking and will eat just about anything. American moms pack a
simple P&J sandwich cause they can’t cook, and the kids love it. Olive
Garden, Taco Bell, and Panda Express are all examples of how American
restaurants mess up the authentic cuisine.
waiting for the 4 seconds of silliness at the end of every video is like
anticipating a clip after every disney movie. i must say i’m never
disappointed ‘`,、(‘∀`) ‘`,、
The UAE MRE’s are terrible
My brother in law got one for me and it tasted like it was in there for 5
years
They are going to change the menu on the MRE and I hope the new one turns
out good
And if it does
I’ll try getting some for you
For me when it comes to rice, if the rice is refrigerated I hate it because
it becomes to stale. However, when the rice has had some time to become
like room temperature, it goes great into liquid based foods because the
low temp rice doesn’t overheat the food
O, this was very interesting. I’ve never thought of the cultural
differences when it comes to ration packs/mre’s/etc. I would love to see
more from different countries. I live in Thailand, I wonder what our’s
looks like. I wonder where I could find one….
our tiny rice cooker makes terrible rice. it isn’t like my mom’s big one
i’ve made rice with my entire life. I found some microwavable rice in a
convenience store and decided to try it out. It was sort of off-putting
though because it was more like those wax display foods you see in japanese
food places and you just microwave or boil them in the container like the
ones in the video. I was really really surprised when I got perfectly good
rice out of it. And without anything to wash after! I am trying to get a
good rice cooker like my mom’s though.
Nice one Emmy – that was interesting, and it’s great that you’ve teamed up
with the various MRE guys. That’s a very minimal pack, with just two meal
portions in it: I wonder how the JSDF handle snacks and drinks?
I think the reason the rice tasted so good is because it is the short grain
Japanese rice, which because of its starch content releases sticky and
moist compounds, preventing that brittle taste in long grain rices. You can
feel that in the texture of cold sushi rice.
Also it is really common in Korea and Japan to buy these kind of pre-packed
cooked rice that have really long shelf lives!
Love it! I have been looking forward to this video since it was hinted at
on gundog’s channel. I have loved MRE’s since I was a kid. I have only had
US types so far, bit love watching the reviews here on YouTube. Love your
channel, Emmy! Thank you for putting so much time and fun into your videos.
The rice really reminds me of the instant rice you can buy in the grocery
store, except for the fact that you heat it in a microwave. Thanks for yet
another awesome, informative video Emmy!
When I went canoeing in the Minnesota Boundary Waters we brought along
MRE’s. It was a perfect solution to on the go eating while we were
portaging from campsite to campsite. Tasted…decent! Like school cafeteria
spaghetti.

I think these Army ration packs are a new exciting “series” if I may say
so.
The Japanese usually have smaller ones than the British and the Americans.
The SPORK I mean.
You always eat the coolest things T3T ….
For those going to checkout the guys’ channels, be prepared to watch them
for hours. MRE/ration pack/freeze-dried, etc. videos are really addicted.
Great video Emmy. Those JSDF rations are delicious!
Love how you used the camera and made a close shot (:
Omg wow! This was just super interesting! Loved the intro by the way :p

I would love to try those seasoning flakes for rice, where can I get some
:)?
That looks edible!! The american MRE don’t look quite that appealing :-)

Hmm… only two packs of rice and one sauce? That’s for an entire day??
the spork makes me in the mood for KFC
Nice! So if the zombies should come, let´s buy a lot of japanese ration
packs! xD

I’m surprise they didn’t supply a spork and/or chopsticks.
so lets hope for a zombie invasion, so we can enjoy JSDF :D
That looks so good… That looks like the delicious microwavables from
Japanese/Taiwanese 7-elevens!!! I’m so hungry now.
Will this help you defend yourself when you eat it? I need self defense
really badly.
Emmy I think you should do like a series of these ration packs I love
these! I find it so interesting and I love your reactions
You should try a French one. They’re actually pretty good.
Is it just me or has the production value gone up?
Are you using a new camera? Love the video by the way <3
