Edged Weapon Defense in Ground Grappling | Jiu-Jitsu Self Defense

Check out more detailed content on Patreon.com/KnightJiuJitsu. For more exploration into this particular topic, dvd instructional resources are available in the Bladed Grappler volumes 1 & 2. This collaboration video in association with Budo Brothers is over a topic that I have been exploring for some time now, knife defense in ground grappling. This is the result of years of training with experienced grapplers, martial artists, law enforcement and other industry professionals interested in self defense and personal protection. Weapons consideration is a very realistic threat in self defense. Defending against knife attacks, or knife usage in a fight, is a scary and dangerous possibility. In this video we explore a potential position one is likely to find themselves in in a physical confrontation if the fight hits the ground. We focus in this short segment specially on side control and transitioning from a severely inferior position to a potentially dominant one, using a sweep that is useful in a variety of fighting situations. Please be safe in any physical training you do, particularly when training in combative or competitive endeavors. Make sure you subscribe and turn on notifications. Because Jitsu says:

I just had a peace officer who works at the hospital sign up. He was concerned about a rash of stabbings at work.

So I lent him both your blade Grappler series' and he said he was going to buy your other videos too!

You're doing God's work, Eli.

Mile Dávid says:

If you are seriously concered about getting stabbed on the STREETZ, you should order some kind of body armor, like stabproof vest or chainmail and a weapon, those are infinite times more reliable than learning juijitsu moves from the internet. If you think wearing armor and being armed all the time dosen't worth it, you are not seriously concered at all.

Side note: the guys are cool about this, and they are not trying to sell you lies. I just say it isn't the most effective thing to do, and you should add this stuff to your defense, but it shouldn't be your gameplan.

JayKray says:

"whatever you do to me I will do back to you."

G&K Ol' School says:

Hey Eli, always excited when I see you've released a new video! Have you made or considered making a video series on Jiu-Jitsu-based gun retention for the legally armed CCW holder's? In my mind, it would take a few cues from the Gracie's GST for LEO's. As a legally-armed citizen, I worry about an encounter that does NOT require the drawing of my weapon yet necessitates the use of Jiu-Jitsu control skills while NOT introducing a weapon into a ground fight. As a Gracie student (Torrance, CA), I've inquired about such a program on our school's forum but they're not considering it at this time. I'm sure there are Jiu-Jitsu schools/professors out there that have addressed this concern, however, to be honest, I'm selective to whom I turn to for such life and death instruction. Needless to say, I trust your wisdom and approach. Thanks!

Nathan Davenport says:

I can't say it enough that this is one of the best channels for self defense on YouTube.

freedom guns and liberty says:

This is why I carry a knife and gun everyday. Jiu jitsu is an all else fails scenario. If someone closes space fast then you can't draw a weapon so grappling comes into play. I prefer to run myself before an encounter ✊🔫🇺🇸

GUTOM says:

Awesome! New video! Always informative!

Tech Tacho says:

I would add that you will definitely get cut in this technique, this is not perfect. But done correctly it can prevent cuts in vital areas.

NurfWaterGun says:

I’m at work on the clock, oh well still going to finish this video 😂🤷‍♂️ 🥋
