Those lessons are good with a number of considerations. You could counter ambush as you say if you have a consistent 2.0 draw or better (under pressure, not just at the range when things are cool), if you have your tool with you and is ready, and if you think you might win that bet. The clerk appears to me of a more advanced age, so that plays in this too. His company might forbid him from acting and might have a policy of just let them take the money, and finally; most people don't ever think this would happen to them and are completely surprised when it does. I wish more people trained more than just a few trips to the range a year.

It’s insane to me that someone working in a job where robberies are likely, and in a constitutional carry state chooses NOT to carry a force multiplier of some kind… even if this clerk cannot “legally” carry for some reason, there are always other legal tools that anyone can carry for defense. Glad it worked out for him this time.😅
That’s the way you do it! You go it without a gun and take what you want. This way they not only won’t be hit with an armed robbery charge, but they eliminate the chance of one of them losing his cool and shooting the clerk if he chooses to fight back. I guess they can get clipped with an armed robbery charge because of the hammer, but not sure that they would. They’re lucky the clerk didn’t have a gun, or at least chose not to use it. I’m a firm believer that all sober, prudent & sane adults should carry a gun if they’re legally entitled. Yes, it could raise problems if someone goes to far, or draws a gun at inappropriate times, but I truly believe there would be a huge drop in crime when the bad guys are aware that everyone around them could have a gun. It would sure make the bad guys think twice about committing a crime.
