Cold Steel polypropylene baseball bats for self-defense?
My opinion on whether or not getting a Cold Steel Brooklyn Smasher / Crusher for self-defense would be a good idea. I also talk about their City Stick.
I wouldn’t buy anything from Cold Steel for an inconspicuous self defense
weapon, just because of its reputation. I would go to an antiques shop and
buy a heavy cane.
The only time I’d be carrying something like that is in a riot. And a
regular baseball bat is a vastly superior weapon in that case anyway. The
Brooklyn smasher is a great murder or sucker smash weapon but at a severe
disadvantage against a similarly armed opponent with a cane, regular
baseball bat, sword etc.
I can see it having a use for people practising their batting swing to
build power for a regular bat, but no, as a self defence tool it would be
completely bloody useless.
I mean, seriously, where are you going to take it? Batting practise? I’d
trust a 3″ Voyager more simply because I’d have it on me (of course 5.5″ of
serrated Vaquero is better than 3″).
To use something as a weapon in defence you have to have it with you, and
no Law Enforcement Officer is going to think that carrying a big black bat
around with you is normal.
People need to understand that there may be situations where a weapon would
be required for self-defense. Say 2 bigger men broke into your house at
night, with knives? I’m sorry that you think the world of yourself, but a
weapon such as this bat will be required.
One important thing – with this one you dont need more swings than with the
other more agile weapon ^^ Its heavy for a reason, one straight hit makes
alot more damage than regular lighter bats.
Oh my god I want the cane although im only 16 it’s not against the law to
carry a cane so I can just tell the cops to screw off or just say my leg
hurts

than real issues with a baseball bat for self defense. Now I thought it was
a good point with the weight and recovery time but something i would also
consider is that with any metal bat is if you miss the shock from the hit
will reverberate into your hands and hurt them as well as make it hard to
keep your grip. If your going to go with a bat make it a wooden one and
leave it in your home because they don’t make the best choice for strolling
around on the street since it’s bulky and suspicious if your not wearing a
baseball uniform.
I don’t know what your rights are and such in Norway, but in the U.S. if
they ask you why you have a baseball bat in your car. Tell them “Because I
have the right to, and I want to.” I would never, not carry a baseball bat
because of police officers.

nothing. (As long as you know how to use it) You can use a bat in more ways
then just a swing…

I can tell you that if the guy dodges a baseball bat, you will need
something better to take him out dude.

deal. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not such a big Cold Steel fan, especially
because they make many expensive knives made out of carbon steel (I’m more
into the stainless steel weapons). But we are talking here about
self-defense. No one will care what’s written on the bat when you take it
out to protect yourself.
Product is great but if you put it on a flat surface it is not manufactured
very well. I live in Ecuador a 3rd world country and a guy put a piece of
wood on a lathe and made me a similar style bat for 7$ and it works way
better and it perfectly machined. It works but its not that great. here is

its all about a persons interest. I personally would rather have the bat
over the walking stick. if weight is a problem get the smaller one and I an
carry bat through school.
No, you just get sexually harrassed at airports, eavesdropped, unlawfully
detained, pepper sprayed for peaceful demonstration, tasered because you
appear “threatening” in your wheelchair…
Sure, but unless you actually need a walking stick and can demonstrate it,
they’re going to tear that defence apart. Even if you need a walking stick,
they can latch on to the fact that it’s a Cold Steel stick and was made for
self defence. They really have zero tolerance against self defence here.

time i checked that isnt a crime. its so crazy how they think making a law
against carrying a weapon will stop criminals. it will only take away the
ability of good people to be able to defend themselves.

I.E. someone tries to rob me or car jack me….. if i hit them once or even
twice it is self defense and you cannot be charged if you prove that your
actions were justified. If you kill a person that is a different story.
Learn what self defence is in your country and practice it when needed.

surprising… the actual quality of Cold Steel stuff is nowhere near as
godlike as they try to make us believe.

It would probably work well in some sort of SHTF scenario, but it’s not
exactly an everyday carry self-defense tool. =)
