Kurtis Graham says:

I love your videos, but, hands down all the bullshit deflect and left hand leverage arm blah blah blah bs, the clerk simply could've thrown his body weight to the floor and lifted his arms at the same time to take his shirt off and been out of this situation… the very act of grabbing the aggressors shirt shoed that he thought he was ready for the fight (behind the bars) and sadly he wasn't..

Real Name says:

Crimes will continue at this rate and intensity until criminals are adequately punished.

Andy Prariedog says:

Looking at this, i think the clerk was more concerned to not tear his shirt…..TEAR IT AWAY and live!!!! Grab the perp's hand and STEP TO THE RIGHT one or 2 steps…use the cage/bars!!

David Chiu says:

AWARENESS — as soon as outside hands
approach the opening then STEP BACK
PRIDE — go defensive rather than trying
to "win" the fight by going toe-to-toe
— all the good suggestions here
in the comments are based on
the smaller guy forgetting
his pride and saving his life

leathery420 says:

Not that I'd recommend it over other options, but biting his fingers probably would have gotten him to let go pretty quick. trying to get your face/mouth closer to his hand could possibly get you a punch in the face, but once they realize you are trying to bite their fingers off I'm sure they'ed back up. Obviously using your weight and the counter to snap his arm is probably the smarter option given you don't need to worry about if your attacker is HIV+, but it'd make for a decent story and honestly becoming HIV+ is probably a better outcome than the one we got. RIP.

Zefrost says:

Just buy fake shotgun

Ayks says:

Even that cover couldn't protect him, the knife getting through that small space maybe if he bit his arm the guy would of let go, but that was to fast, they way it went down

Bob II says:

Grab a finger (preferably the little finger) and bend it backwards. The pain will release his grip pronto – especially if you break his finger in the process.

Ron H. says:

When it's 'on' (when he grabbed the clerk) you must always and automatically go into Tazmanian Devil mode on them immediately, and assume the worst will follow if you don't. Because there's just too many barbaric (and demonized) people out there to do less than 'full on'.

C Collins says:

I think that first stab ended it – it looks like it caught the clerk in the neck. This is so sad and horrifyingly fast.

Brian Morgan says:

This is why maintaining your distance is so critical. If he had just stayed back a foot or 2 that guy never could have reached him. KEEP YOUR DISTANCE!

Ima Starboy says:

more people need to see videos like this and understand how deadly knives and sharp objects of any kind actually are and why police take knife threats so seriously and why citizens should as well and the right to bear arms needs to be protected because the best self defense options other than a firearm are going to put you in stabbing range of the attacker which is close enough to be killed within seconds.

Cd D says:

If he had the presence of mind to just go dead weight in that guy’s grip it might have allowed him to break free. He had no other leveraging ability with that table in front of him. Sad situation for sure.

Doug Christensen says:

That is too bad. Simple skills and certainly a side arm would have done the trick
