China reviews loan shark killing case, triggering a self-defense debate

Intentional assault or excessive self-defense? This was the question a provincial court was trying to decide on a highly controversial case in east China’s Shandong Province. A young man named Yu Huan stabbed four people, killing one, after he and his mother were humiliated and abused by debt collectors from a local loan shark. The first verdict sentenced Yu to life imprisonment, triggering widespread fury. The case has been taken to the provincial high court. What will the second verdict be?
