Can Friction Folders (Knives) Be Good Self Defense Weapons?

Yes, in places around the world where locking folders mean jail time, even a simple friction folder can be used to slash and stab when needed for defense, so don’t feel underarmed where you…

Julian Macatangay says:

Thats a really nice knife!

legoking97 says:

that’s a pretty knife! is the pocket clip actual a Carbon fiber or is it
just a laminated piece on the clip itself?

Prepper Nurse says:

Wow! What a cool way to make your points. Love it! Human flesh is very
fragile. In nursing school we were told to take apart raw chicken to get a
feel for human flesh. Thank you for such a creative, awesome message about
defence :)

haha.. While I agree than any knife can slash the stuffings out of a static
pair of pants, I personally wouldn’t take many friction folders into a
self-defense position. the simple reason is that you have to try and deploy
it in a panicked moment. any friction folder you can deploy one handed
without looking is probably not exhibiting a lot of friction and will shut
down on your fingers with relatively low force also. I think the main issue
is going to be the fact that slashing into a moving defensive target opens
your hand and body up to a lot of variables and in the heat of the moment,
keeping that thumb on the spine and locking that blade in is going to be a
lot harder than imagined. all it takes as you slash someone (who wont feel
it immediately) is for them to twist and smash at your attacking hand and
that blade is taking your fingers along with the cut in his hand.
It would be really interesting to make a friction folder out of plastic for
testing and actually spar with someone and see what happens. Rounded dull
plastic blade of course.

Now those country’s are going to outlaw friction folders lol

Justin makes hardcore knives and grinds a scary sharp edge on his blades.
He made me a set of daggers double sided and both sides sharp.then I got a
custom V1 Friction Folder it is killer and a work of art. But my V2 custom
is so badass and classy it’s unreal and fits every cutting situation. If
your looking for an amazing knife you can depend on contact Justin you will
be happy you did!

Svord Peasant Knife! :)

hawkermustang says:

I didn’t know that some countries banned lock blades. Do they ban ball bats
and hammers also? If I wanted to kill somebody, I wouldn’t give a shit if
the weapon I used was legal or not anyway. Last time I checked murder was
illegal.

jake dill says:

yeah friction folders could be a decent self defense weapon, as would any
knife, or sharp object, or blunt object….or pretty much anything for that
reason. BUT if you were to preform a stab in a self defense situation with
a friction folder, theres a pretty good chance your losing a finger lol

happy to live in the netherlands, it is the most allowing country in west

Cut nuts and thighs

Have you noticed how lemonade is so much more refreshing than water?

555 Gear says:

Of course the advantage to modern “tactical” folders is rapid and assured
one handed deployment, but all knives can be used as a weapon. My wife
worked at a police station one summer doing testimony transcriptions and by
far the most common stabbing weapons were kitchen knives. Great video idea

I live in one of those nannystate countries and I agree with you, the law
preventing me from carrying anything that locks OR is over 3 inches long is
sh….tupid to say the least. I’m proud to say that I know the fella who
made that there knife :)

CrazyIrishMedic says:

All you need is to get 1-2 inches deep to get to a major artery in some
places

wikieditspam says:

I think in the same places where locking knives are prohibited the jury
might have issues with you using a knife of any kind, even in self defense.
I think there might be better options for self defense in that context
which will be more likely to be seen as less lethal.

dlcknives says:

a wharnclif blade will work better ?

SRG Knives says:

That’s so cool i would test my knives like this but I like to eat my food
and not play with it lol

My audio is broken so sorry for the dumb question.. What blade is that?

Bruce Banner says:

Whenever someone looks at you funny to quote the penguins from Madagascar
“Just smile and wave boys, just smile and wave.”

unicornlxi says:

Any idea why non-locking folders are illegal ANYWHERE? I always considered
a lock a safety devise to keep me from amputating my fingers.

theo turner says:

do you like yams

Everett Garcia says:

You should go to grocery stores and ask if they have any old meats they’re
throwing out. So you could do some more of these cool tests.
