POLARBEARSRUS says:

Moral of the story, don't break into people's homes. One should not be afraid to defend yourself in your own home. He went over the line but I would have shot them too. Your analysis is excellent. However, I do feel sorry for him since he was the victim of burglaries in the past and constantly living on edge, afraid in his own home.

Willy Wonka says:

Some burglars break into a house where the occupants are likely to have home contents insurance.
They wait for a couple of weeks then burglarise the house again to steal the things replaced by the insurance company.
I have heard of a house being broken into 4 times each time to grab the goods replaced by the insurance. The thieves broke windows to get in and took the goods out of the window.
The home owner didn't replace the items after the 4th burglary.
The thieves came back and were caught red handed by the family who waited for them and were actually sat on, to keep them from moving until the police arrived.
The burglars were drug addicts who had a fierce habit, and realised that they would get new goods if they went back more than once.
Maybe that's why these 2 went back a second time.

John Morelli says:

The only crimes here are that they locked him up instead of giving that guy a medal for removing those two parasites from society, and that he did for free what law enforcement failed to but got paid to do. They should write this guy a check for doing their job.

Gallowglass says:

He sounds like he had no faith in the justice system and wanted to stop these people. If you had a choice to be caught off guard by an intruder or to lay a trap for them I'm sure you'd prefer the latter. Maybe he went too far, but if one doesn't want to be killed maybe one shouldn't burglarize houses.

Laura Kenney says:

He was lying in wait & it was premeditated. Very sad case. Did he have any remorse at all for executing these teens?

Pro-Life Logic Chick says:

I remember this case. Both Mr. Smith and cousins were wrong and two ppl are dead because of it.🤷🏽‍♀️

Chris says:

Rather harsh sentence. A few years would have been more reasonable.

Old-Rugged Media says:

The teens picked the wrong house/right house. Depends on how you see it. Thank you for sharing sir.

Kane's Cauldron says:

Applauding Smith for removing these thieves.

Luke McGuire says:

I was hoping you would cover this case one. You didnt do the, um, psychological analysis, the OCEAN part. That's ok though. I still liked it. I have a feeling you might be researching this case or that you have plans to cover it but I'm gonna go ahead and request you cover the Joel Guy Jr case. It was a ver unusual case. Also, thin mints are my favorite, by a mile. Love watcha do

Luke McGuire says:

If you havent already, check out the tapes of this mans interview with the police. If you think he was justified in killing the two teens you certainly wont once you here the man tell the story himself. He is super creepy and frankly sounds very similar to many serial killers. It's definitely worth a listen if you're into true crime, and you're likely to be interested even if you're not. This man may have been trying to protect his property but there is no doubt that he sought to and wanted to commit murder and kill
