What a coward. My father was an officer for 28 years, I’ll never forgot the day in 2008 he came home early walked in the house and just broke down crying. After talking to him he was responding to a domestic violence call, upon arrival he was the first on scene. Domestics should always have more than 1 officer because of how dangerous they are but when my dad got there the front door was wide open and he heard a girl screaming and a guy saying “I’m going to kill you”. Obviously he knew as hairy as the situation was he couldn’t wait for back up before entering the home or she could be killed.
After making entry, he saw a man pointing a gun at a women that laying on the floor in her kitchen crying. She had clearly been beaten pretty badly. My dad told the guy to slowly put the gun down but as I’m sure you guessed, he had no intention of doing so.
Unfortunately he was forced to take the man’s life to save that woman. Even tho it had to be done it doesn’t change the fact he took someone’s life and that’s hard. He did the right thing and he’s told me if he were in the same situation he wouldn’t do anything differently but he has still never been the same. Forcing an officer to take your life is incredibly cowardly.
