Metal Gamer says:

Biting, groin strikes, hair pulling and eye poking is extremely dangerous
because it escalates the fight immediately. Normally I would use grappling
on a guy that attacked me, even though I’m better trained in kickboxing (to
avoid injuring anyone). But if he started any of that shit, I would posture
up and start punching and even stomping on his head just to finish the
fight so he couldn’t do any more of that shit. Getting bitten can give you
serious infections.

maskeywest says:

Bite me asshole and I’ll break your leg. The whole “Eye gouging, biting”
myth was shattered at UFC 1 when the Kung Fu/Karate guys got schooled by
position and technique. Hit me up if you think that shit will work lol.

Johannes Cojones says:

I actually did use the nipple bite against my girlfriend and it worked!

Bay Area Martial Arts Review says:

I live in San Francisco. In the Mission District, a woman was recently
attacked by a creep at late night. She got away by fighting, according to
the newspaper, with a combination of being a “strong climber” and “some
biting”. She broke free, screamed for help and got away. We are not talking
about innocent schoolyard scuffles. We’re talking about self-defense
against life threatening attacks, rape, and serious assaults.

BandakaKush says:

I was in a fight this one time (middle school) and tried biting this guy
who was holding me down with a headlock in sidemount, All it did was piss
the kid off more and continue to squeeze my head off. Had I known Jiu-Jitsu
I would not have bothered with that strategy. My point being is you should
never bite in a streetfight.

darymetal says:

OMG poor guy!!

nmr20067 says:

In regards to the video, that MMA goon abused his skills by being a
criminal and being arrogant enough to sexually and physically assault a
much, much smaller female because he felt he had the power and could. He
probably figured he was a strong, train MMA fighter, so who could stop him
for walking up on her ass and talking shit then hitting her? Him and his
buddy got what they deserve. No combat athlete should abuse their power and
abuse regular people, especially innocent women.

GreaterGoodPrevails says:

Wait wait now, answer me first. Was Maeda a disciple of Kano? Rhetorical
question. Yes, he was. Now I’ll go further, BJJ is COMPLETELY like Judo. I
can tell you how, and you have shown me you don’t practice Judo. You have
made a claim, now expand on it, how is BJJ unlike Judo. I know what you are
going to say, but I want to read you type it. It will show me how deeply
you know nothing of history, Judo, and BJJ.

Duncan McMillan says:

That guy with the long hair is too cocky for my liking

Brian Morency says:

Brasa Osss

nmr20067 says:

I love how you guys mix in the dirty fighting tactics like biting and etc.
The street is not MMA where a ref steps in before you killed. I love combat
sports like boxing and MMA, but you should always be open to adding the
dirty tactics in the street. Hell, I’ve seen street guys bite people.

Cruz Bryan says:

And of you have a choke why the hell don’t you just choke them out instead
of wasting time biting? Biting isn’t going to stop or even phase everyone.
Everyone needs a blood supply to the brain. Learn to actually wrestle and
use BJJ or Catch, Sambo or whatever and the dirty stuff will be there.
Don’t waste time training it.

lawrence calderon says:

Maeda taught the gracie guys judo. Its not his fault they couldn’t do the
throws.

nmr20067 says:

Cont: I don’t care how the women dressed.

xTheDoctor92 says:

This documentary is ridiculous

GreaterGoodPrevails says:

BJJ came from Judo, Judo came from Jujutsu. Sure Judo came from Jujutsu,
but Judo is almost nothing like Jujutsu. BJJ came from Judo.

ThePoorBoy says:

I absolutely agree with the inclusion of JKD and the JKD approach to BJJ.
Incorporating biting and gouging into BJJ is not new; Paul Vunak — a
long-time student of both Inosanto and the Gracies — has been
incorporating biting and gouging into BJJ for years. If you’re in a life or
death situation, biting and gouging with BJJ is a match made in heaven.
Having both will allow you a range of possibilities depending on the level
of danger you’re in. Great job on the video!

vginawhisperer says:

This would be a great documentary on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu if it didn’t have
the Jeet Kune Do segments in it. I don’t think the segments with the JKD
instructor are a good representation of what BJJ is. And biting….WTF???

GreaterGoodPrevails says:

Really? Tell me how. Tell me the lineage of the guy who thought the Gracies
Judo. If his lineage goes to that of Kano (Founder of Judo), then I am
correct. So please correct me.

lawrence calderon says:

Remember this fact. Without judo, there would be no mma.

lgadwords says:

Makes sense, in a life and death situation, we resort to animilistic
tactics which is to scratch and bite. Look down upon it if you will but
we’re not talking sport anymore we’re talking survival.

Bay Area Martial Arts Review says:

Thanks. In more serious situations, people won’t be worried what is or
isn’t “pure” lineage or technique, if it’s responsible for saving them.

nmr20067 says:

Wow. Thanks for the info. That MMA fighters were assholes, though for
walking up behind the girl and hitting her after. Looks like two rouge MMA
goon to me. But you’re in the streets, combat sports fighters, while
incredibly tough, are just as vulnerable as me or any non-fighter. Wow. I
know a pro boxer who even wrestled in high school, but got stabbed up bad
by some street thug at a night club. As good as he is in boxing, it didn’t
help him. And the thugs never knew he was a pro boxer.

vginawhisperer says:

Yea, you did an amazing job. But if you made a documentary on Judo, would
you include segments of Wing Chun? Probably not. Think about it. I like JKD
too, but it’s probably best to have it’s own separate documentary rather
than splicing it in with a documentary of BJJ. Also, thanks for showing
love to 10th Planet!

Adan Olivera says:

thats like zombie mode or werewolf mode, lol biting in a streetfight?? HIV
or AIDS once you bite someone is a definite thing to think about, i would
prefer to be alert and aware of dangers and if anything run or if i cant
run ill pick up stones and sticks.

fitedude says:

About the JKD guy demonstrating biting: What the fuck? Biting the nipple?
Seriously? He has top position, he should just rain some ground and pound.
That’s the gayest thing I have ever seen.

Andrew Manford says:

i’ll counter you…explain how judo is nothing like jiu-jitsu please.

Cruz Bryan says:

People really overestimate how dangerous most people are on the street. 99%
of guys on the street suck and can be beaten by an average competitive
grappler who has wrestling. Just because mma and BJJ or wrestling are
sports doesn’t mean they have zero carryover in a real fight. Especially
mma. If you can defend against a punch or choke from the mount you can stop
an eye gouge. If you can stop a jab you can stop an eye poke. You don’t
need to train dirty tactics, that stuff is natural instinct.
