chitownmo says:

the cover with no gloves is dangerous. limited vision also likely to
fracture or break the hand. there is a channel on youtube specifically
teaching Bare Knuckle Boxing by BareFisted.

FreshGamingHD says:

But what would you do if your fighting someone that is trying to take you
down or grabbing you?

SeekerofTruth29 says:

I always go back to this video for reference incase I ever get into a
problem on the street(I don’t like fighting for no reason). One thing I
noticed is that boxers, especially if they train just to compete all the
time, can break their hands in a street fight because their fists are
slightly gripped when they are training or competing, due to the
glove, shadowboxing etc…It’s better to train bare fisted and gripped
tightly and properly to get used to punching bare knuckles.I think alot of
boxers forget to modify their style and technique on the street.

Homemaderezkid says:

bjj is a fucking horrible way to use self defence if somebody’s gonna try
and kick and puck the shit outta if u why are u gonna try to fuckin get
them to the ground and try to put them in an arm bar or keg lock your
better off just running or try to throw a punch back

Samuel Carrillo says:

I love boxing, but I’m not good at it! That’s why I use BJJ! Almost a brown
belt! Osss

AnonymousBob123 says:

Hey johnny, this is not meant to be negative towards your video but simply
a question. Can’t you break your hands when you punch someone in the face?

kingkillerboy kama says:

i love boxing i beat one of my enemy

Matt Simpson says:

dont cover with your hands use your forearms there is a good chance that
his fist hits the back of your hand it will damage or break bones face you
palms outwards or bring your forearms up next to your head

Jacob Licano says:

Thanks bro…i didnt mean this doesnt help but its worth it… i think
footwork is my favorite way of evading an attack and most effective…

Nick Bowers says:

Mr. Box, you ever been in a fight? What you don’t see is the busted
knuckles and wrists from less then flush shots. I like your point about
straights tho. Iv won a couple just by laying shots straight down the pipe,
they’ll never see it coming.

HiTMaN MuRdA U says:

Lol, “he’s a random Dude, doesnt like me”!

chrisXDfull says:

vertical is better imo because if the guy happens to slip and u end up
catching his face with the pinky knuckle (horizontal hook) theres a chance
u may break it (this is bare knuckle). With the vertical thumb hook u will
land with 4 knuckled even if he slips therefore the force is wider spread.
thats just my take on it

expertboxing says:

the one you can do well is the best option.

expertboxing says:

This is simple easy and effective technique for when you’re caught in a
sudden environment. If you can do better than this, great. But if you’re
not as well trained in boxing or don’t have the best reflexes, this will be
much easier to do.

expertboxing says:

Trained fighters make more effective movements and they do it more
naturally and more instinctively.

expertboxing says:

There are many ways to counter a wild puncher. You can throw big counters
off the bat, or you can evade first and then counter. Or you can keep
evading and wait for him to tire out. It’s up to you.

diestroduende says:

Hi Johnny, I’m enjoying your videos so far. Perhaps you can expand on this
topic? The one thing I love about boxing is that I can avoid strikes
without blocking(which is too slow) unless you get caught. On the subject
of self defense/streetfights, I’d like to request a video of how you would
counter someone that throws a L-R-L, then grabs you with the Left while
pulling a blade with the Right(this is all one sequence).

Justaname says:

If you train boxing, your punches are going to be much faster than your
opponent. If you’re angry, you’ll probably end up using your stronger hand
more than throwing any jabs. Other than that, you gota be careful he
doesn’t grab your shirt over your head and hockey punch you or tackle you.

Julian Lewis says:

good video thanks

Devil Prince says:

ill help u out with your “street defense”. LMAO. Just box the way you
normally would. Covering up as 1st defense is bad. You’re blocking your
vision and w/o 16 oz gloves, some shots will slip through. Eyes, head
movement & footwork stuff you already know as first line of defense.
Covering up is last resort.

expertboxing says:

You can do both! I covered these details in my Left hook technique videos.

assassineater145 says:

You cant just cover up in a street fight! it can injure your hands and
easily pierce your guard since you dont wear any gloves you better parry
his punches. besides theres no guarantee that he wont use any weapons like
a nail , brass knuckles etc.

Angel Lucifer says:

thank you Mr. Johnny… Have you seen unardmed combat book?

NakMuayify says:

so in other words its a great answer to when a buddy asks “hey man what do
i do in a street fight?” I guess what I’m asking is, if one has the ability
to do something more advanced, should they abandon it in favor of something
more high percentage? (such as the high percentage methods shown in your
video?) Thank you!

YmBridge says:

that’s what i meant, your less likely to have the room to kick someone in a
street fight

Mathematicx says:

Good Info. Thx.

Angel Lucifer says:

specially if they had a weapons. Like bottle of wine. Best way is to run…
🙂

WildreStark says:

Thanks expert boxing. I like all the videos. I have learn so much from you.

Angel Lucifer says:

street fight!!, poke the bully dudes eyes then throw straight power punch
to their face… Make it 4 punches to make it sure. 🙂 thats very very
effective…

Trevor wise says:

hello mr.j my name is trevor and where i live people don’t fight one on
one. and i got into a fight with this bum who thought i was trying to get
his girlfriend who was 7 months preg. now when we started fighting we were
throwing blows. then i wound up have to fight four guys so how would i use
boxing to take care of myself vs 4 guys. thank you and god bless

Angel Lucifer says:

ohh yeah… If a trained boxer punch a untrained guy he will end up
floored. 🙂 1 or two punch is enough. But if it’s multiple bad guys. Its a
different story. Sometimes. Boxer endup bloody wounded…

daskalo jacob says:

sorry my friend, this is the most dangerous thing to do in street
situations. the old school barekcnucle boxers knew to maintain proper
distance, proper hand position, proper deflections and perrys. to put the
palma up on the face is a recipie to be nailed.

bladeboytb1 says:

Yeah about that I have a question what is the difference between the way a
untrained fighter aka streetfighter fights and throw their punches, move
their heads, defense between the way a boxer does his or her stuff?

Thomas Lesnick says:

There’s not a chance that I would try and throw a closed fist punch at a
guy, that’s just asking for a broken knuckle, and then you can’t fight
anymore. Would it not be smarter to throw an elbow or use your fist like a
hammer instead? Or better yet, I come from a wrestling background. I think
I’d rather throw a guy or take him down than hit him.

onemogain23 says:

What if they try to scoop you up and slam you? Some people don’t want to
have a boxing match with you and would rather end it quickly. Thanks.

devonmac95 says:

If i was in a street fight i would fight how i do in the ring, but with
less restrictions. I would use footwork as my main line of defense because
that way, i could dodge anything they throw at me, while controlling
distance.

bob lala says:

Are you going pro?

expertboxing says:

I think I saw this video. Great stuff.

expertboxing says:

I don’t street fight so I wouldn’t have too many video ideas for that. This
video was a special request.

expertboxing says:

This is a simple video for untrained fighters. If you’re better trained and
more comfortable with something else, DO THAT INSTEAD! 🙂

expertboxing says:

I also use this excuse too when I don’t feel like explaining something 😉

McDave1312 says:

you can do it everywhere, but after a few beer (when most trouble comes) no
one registers pain in the shin bone.. an elbow or fist to the chin will
have better results 😉

Izzy Matt says:

hi Johnny, do you recommend hitting the body (i.e. solar plexus and liver)
more so than headhunting? Less chance for breaking the hand on someone’s
skull, and being cut by his teeth. Also, what do you think of palm strikes
vs. closed fists? Lastly, how would you use Dirty Boxing and defensive
footwork in a self defense scenario?

expertboxing says:

Cover up and return fire, or just run away…that’s all anyone can do.

Christopher Yee says:

Should we turn our head and take our eyes off the guy we’re fighting when
throwing the left hook?

expertboxing says:

The shoulder roll requires a little more skill of timing to be effective
and so I don’t recommend it for beginners. But if you have the skills, then
yes, it’s much more effective and easier than blocking.

Blu'Bird says:

Ok i am sorry for this question

urdbum idio says:

Just what I thought all the fight experts are down here giving there expert
opinions..do this,do that,I wrestle,I box,blah blah blah blah..if u don’t
like the video get the fuck out of here and make ur own fake ass idiots..oh
i get it ur too fat and ugly to make a video that’s why ur trying to annoy
someone who’s making an effort to help other people..fake ass idiots get ur
ass up that couch and move for once..lmao

Smarty McPants says:

why are you jackasses asking a boxer about kicking,, and slams, and
weapons, and multiple opponents? Seriously, what have you seen from this
guy to make you think he would have good advice on any of that?
Expertboxing has great advice on boxing, some of which I have incorporated
into my style, but seriously, why ask him all this shit? Go somewhere else
for all that.

hailtwinmusclewrkout says:

Does that garuntee the KO though ?? 😮 :p
