If you do not want to kill them use Aikido! as for sitting on them that is
stupid. to control them learn Ju-jutsu! or Ninjutsu.
You should put him on his front not his back, on his back he has more
weapons.

A Friend of mine a 9th Dan in Ninjutsu controlled and escorted two
Pakistanis in pain in Manchester UK, from a cinema to security 300 meters
after they attacked a man in the cinema. When he got there he dumped on on
top of the other and pined them, he is 154lbs! the security came with 6
guys the head guy could only say “er well done!” as the others looked on in
amazement.
The movie he had gone to watch was a a James Bond movie. He said it was the
interactive version!

Daniel Skipp says:

Stupid. Boneheaded.
Kneeling on an enraged, crackedout crazy who is bigger and more muscled
than you is not going to work, at all. That guy was 50+ and wasted but
obviously even he was not fighting hard. Even if they not bigger a hyped up
hostile can not be reliably pinned like that. Good luck getting that
omoplata lock on.

Why do people with obviously not much real street experience, not much
useful training, lots of inappropriate training, and much confusion on
which is which, think they are right to promote their ideas as
authorititive to the naive public on such a life and death topic?
Oh yeah, because they live in fantasy land where their martial arts and
“tested against resistance” BJJ/MMA actually works. Actually it gets you
grabbed and then shit can go south real fast. Biting is the least of your
worries.

Tackling the guy could easily have hurt him, even killed him, which would
have been manslaughter/2nd degree murder, and just sitting on him is a
stupid idea.
I thought Kesting knew grappling? Pin bad guys on your feet with locks if
you really must detain someone. Having a cable-tie in your pocket at all
times might also be a good idea, if you are into abducting people ;D.

Yeah, he was only “a little tied up”.. LOL! You want to be already on your
feet [with a wrist and shoulder lock on], preferably able to stand and turn
around when his buddies turn up, so you can run instantly, not getting
countergrabbed by him as you try to escape.

Grappling can work in real fights 1 on 1 but since you rarely know for sure
if a weapon or other hostiles are going to suddenly appear you should not
bet on your BJJ. Use strikes and unbalancing. Leave the wrestling to sport
and challenge matches.

THANKS SO MUCH!

I had the same problem once with a guy that was trying to hit a girl
(because she slapped him) and I used the arm triangle… but I think
omoplata is better :)

MrCpdb says:

If you get to his back, Choke, drag backwards and sit him down. Then just
rest your body weight on his shoulders, if he struggles, squeeze the choke
a little.

avgoustisimo says:

brilliant advice, ive been studying gracie jui jitsu at my local ctc for
the past month and i love it and i also take your tips onbaord because alot
of videos out there are poor advice but i feel yours are very informative.

BonesFire says:

4:57 well, and now let’s buy new trousers !!

kiekert2007 says:

so that’s the way to read someones thoughts. lol.

Danlows1 says:

Stephan, one thing you need to be aware of when putting someone prone like
in the omoplata, especially if they are overweight, is positional asphyxia,
as they are pinned face down with no way of moving themselves. A lot of
police have been taught to place someone on their side, once they are
controlled. Is there a way of securing control, which put them on their
side to avoid this, whilst maintaining control?

Angel Martinez says:

Crackheads have the best benchpress mount escapes.
100% helio approved.

priceless

LOLittleHero says:

haha hear everything he’s thinking. good video, thanks for upload

Abdulnasir AlMassloom says:

thank you

brottarnacke says:

Another thing to think about if you’re going to restrain someone, is that
if you have a friend with you, so that you can work together, there are
many much simpler ways to restrain someone than the positions commonly
taught in BJJ. One person can control the legs and the other the upper body
etc.

Nick Charlton says:

Excellent. Very clearly explained too.

Brendan Dorman says:

Stephen I admire your hard work and purity in your love and promotion of
BJJ. Ossu!

phillip chu says:

omoplata+power half = nowhere to go even if they are inspired to roll
forward

TheZappmann says:

Great stuff, many thanks. I would submit that the positional asphyxia
problem might be a consideration with the last technique. Just something to
be aware of.

joRa404 says:

An in my opinion easier way to pin him (instead of omoplata): At the
position 2:45 you grab his wrist with your left hand and push his ellbow
with your right hand in direction of his head. This way (and through verbal
command) you force him to get on his stomach. When he is on his stomach you
keep his arm in this position, put one knee on his back and one knee on his
neck. Force him to look the other direction that he doesn’t see whats going
on. This is what we did in German Jiu Jitsu selfdefense class. Advantages:
Easier to get him into the position and easier to get out. If his friends
are coming I guess it’s better if you can just stand up :)

afreiden says:

Regarding the omoplata, I’d be concerned that they are going to posture up
(natural thing to do, and very much a possibility if they are bigger than
you) and then I’ll have to backward somersault or go to a triangle, etc.,
which I was trying to avoid in the first place…
