I love you man, the lord blesses me like I’m planning, I’m flying you to
virginia for 1 month to live with me, OR a hotel in dc, and have you train
me 6 am to 8 am for, 50k?
I will attest to this. I hated BJJ and thought it was just guys smothering
each other. I didn’t like the fact that It consisted of trying to pull the
guy close to you and that you would wind up getting his sweat and stinking
hot breath on you. It sounds repulsive saying it right now. But after
learning what goes into these moves and what a great work out it is, I love
it.
Stephan, I mean this with love: see a traditional barber. You have bushy
eyebrows, that make you look older than you’d probably like. A traditional
barber trims your shit.
Here are a couple of videos about the self defense side or grappling. There
is some good stuff here and you should see many similar items that we talk
about in class!
Grappling on the ground is great for sports competition, inside an octagon
cage, with a referee, an audience and rules. OTOH, street fighting is a
completely different scenario. If you’re going to take your attacker down,
do so and then run away, don’t stay there to show off your best arm bar, or
you could get kicked on the head by his friends–or worse, knifed to death.
I think Ju-Jitsu, Judo and BJJ are great MA/Sports, and I cross train them,
but ground fighting just for the sake of it is extremely dangerous.
I’d consider myself more of a BJJ player than anything, but i;ve done my
share of MMA. I honestly don’t see any grappling techniques that expose
their groin. Could you give me a specific technique?
Yeah BJJ sucks for self-defense….until you find yourself on the ground
with no alternative except to grapple for your life, which is a very
plausible situation. Without BJJ/Grappling trainign, what are you going to
do then? Pinch them?
@heracles04 Exactly. But if your opponent is on top of you, punching you,
the BJJ way is an easy way to reverse the situation with your opponent not
being so aware. And, they are no too complicated for a person under stress,
since they are perfected under stress. BJJ guys, even the sport oriented,
are always drilling and, training with a resisting opponent. They do that
with the full weight of the opponent on them. That doesn’t intimidate them,
they can do the moves without thinking.
@MrPotatoesLatkie BJJ is great when the attacker has you close to him. I
don’t think much of it’s offensive attacks, but as a non-lethal
self-defense, it’s fantastic. And, there is nothing from stopping a BJJ guy
using dirty tactics on you. I’ve also got to roll with older, Brazilian
black belts, the type with cauliflower ears. Their skills are quite scary.
Being in an arm bar that’s on so tight before they even execute the move,
or the crushing ability they have when they are examples.
you’ve been saying those WHILE replying to someone who never mentioned a
single thing about any actions taken to take someone to the ground – or
taking someone to the ground at all. You’re talking about “taking it to the
ground” in response to my comments about it “ending up on the ground”.
Every comment after my first has been reiterating the same point that
you’re failing to address while rattling on about fucking takedowns. I. Am.
Not. Talking. About. Taking. It. To. The. Ground. AT. ALL.
Half right. You might not WANT to end up on the ground, but if you DO end
up there, BJJ works. A lot of people write off ground fighting for the
many-opponent scenario but from what I’ve seen that scenario is probably
*more* likely to go to the ground and so BJJ could well be more useful in
that than in a 1 on 1. If there’s any chance of ending up on the ground
(I’d say 50% to 70% of the time – I don’t buy the “90%” line) BJJ is just
what you need.
The only reason it seems I’m talking in circles is because you’re seemingly
incapable of understanding the basic difference between an action and a
consequence. You keep saying the same brain-dead nonsense over and over and
I keep repeating that we’re talking about different things. In all 5 posts
I made up to an hour ago I made the distinction between taking and ending
up. In all both posts I made in this hour I’ve said the same. I’ll say it
again too. Ending not taking. No circles here, bud.
@bastonydaga If I actually did that Im pretty sure they would call the
police and have me sectioned LoL. Plus that wouldnt be a street fight, so
theres no need to use teeth as not fighting for my life. I just don’t think
getting this close on the street is very smart; people have teeth and they
do use them…
If the question was “if you’re being stabbed can you use BJJ?” or “if
someone pulls a knife can you use BJJ” or “if you’re in a combat zone and
you’re 100 yards away from 15 AK-wielding insurgents, can you use BJJ?”
then the line of discussion you’re taking would make perfect sense… If
someone’s got a knife or an AK, no BJJ is not a good approach to take. But
in a “gang fight” there’s every change you’ll END UP on the ground with
someone who wants to hurt you with their hands or feet. BJJ.
@Ljenkins9000 I’m sorry I have to disagree. Any skilled martial artist will
have a great advantage over someone who is untrained. Be it standing up or
on the ground. The experience, insights and timing will make it seem like
the opponent moves in slow motion. Grappling however is the best way to
subdue someone in a situation where you really don’t wan’t to hurt the
opponent. ps: you should always try to run away. 😉
@heracles04 For me, BJJ is about escaping. If the guy has a knife and,
tries to stab me, that’s different than a guy trying to punch me., or elbow
me in the face. The fear of an unarmed attacker would be much less with a
person used to quickly getting out from pins and, mounts. When wrestlers
take me down (less and, less, due to Judo training) I fall to my side and,
start moving and, most importantly, breathing. Move and, breath and,
escape. Use eye gouges and, such together.
What is shown in UFC is only a VERY small portion of what BJJ actually is
(Probably because they train so many other arts besides BJJ and don’t have
time to learn the entire system). What techniques exactly have you seen
that leave the groin open?
I love you man, the lord blesses me like I’m planning, I’m flying you to

After just two videos, SUBSCRIBED! lol

i think you guys could’ve explained the street scenario instead of
literally doing it in the street haha

One thing i learned on krav maga, NEVER! never! and never again.. go to
ground in a street fight.
Nice SMART car in the background….! And as always – excellent video.

lol at all the confused drivers & pedestrians traveling by the filming of
this. “WTF! A FIGHT!” – Oh wait… not really. Still, wtf is going on?”

Stephen, are you considering making any BJJ self defense DVDs?
My bad then. Maybe I was generalizing based on what I’ve seen in the UFC
fights. But of course I can’t take that to BJJ as such.
chinese guy at 2.40 xD

I wonder if the people in the cars passing by are thinking that these guys
are filming porn, lol. Good stuff guys.
