Best Self-Defense Handgun Ammunition: Winchester PDX1 Defender Demo SHOT Show Media Day 2012
http://www.SafetySolutionsAcademy.com If you are looking for the Best Self-Defense Handgun Ammunition you need to take a look at Winchester PDX1 Defender. Th…
Prefer the Federal HST in 180 grain .40 but Winchester has flooded the
market with the PDX1s and although they are not my first choice in
defensive rounds they are definitely in my top 5 and being that they are
more availble than the HSTs the PDX1 will be in more mags alot more.
great Odin’s ghost! you’re right! that 5-10 feet COMPLETELY negates any and
all conclusions that could have been drawn from this test. Assuming of
course there is any such thing as a “typical” home defense situation.
There is no doubt that the PDX1 Slug is impressive. I have about 200
Federal LE Low REcoil slugs left. When I get down to 100 I will be ordering
a case of the pdx1.
No you’re referring to a different product. The PDX1 slug tested here is a
segmenting slug only. This is different from the round you bought (3-000
Buck + 1 oz non segmenting slug) that came out last year. Get rid of those.
The low velocity slug penetrates around 20 inches! Way too much. Check out
tnoutdoors9 channel where he tested that round last week.
8 boxes they had of these. I had no choice. Now that I see your results, I
feel much more confident regarding over penetration. My benelli m4 is now
loaded with 7 in the mag as of an hour ago. I just hope some poor soul
doesn’t invite theirselves into my home. There won’t be much left to
identify. I trust pdx1s with my life and the lives of my family. Great
video guys. Thanks
Holy guacamole…. did you guys see how sharp and nasty those fragments
look, looked like real even sized shrapnel? That was brutal!!! best slug
round by far, can’t believe Hornady didn’t think of this.
@STEVE P well, that’s probably better answered by an expert, but if you
watch the video, the main focal point is rapid energy transfer with minimal
penetration. Is that a guarantee that they will never over penetrate, no,
but neither does any other kind of bullet.
did you not see how freaking split the gel was? If you hit someone in the
gut, it would literally blow them apart. So if you want to kill someone and
you hit them in the chest . You definitely can trust your life to it.
That slug seems a lot better than the Winchester PDX-1 Slug and Buck combo
load they make which has problems with over penetration! That was awesome!
I haven’t seen them around in stores yet but I also haven’t looked too hard
either!
excellent video, and fantastic demonstration for this ammunition, thanks so
much for posting it. I have selected PDX1 for my personal carry weapons
(rotating between .45 ACP, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG), based on the results of
the FBI testing, and carrying it. I bought a few boxes of the PDX1
segmented slugs just out of curiosity, after viewing that gel test, the 870
is now loaded with those boiler room busters, Here’s hoping I never have to
use any of them but if i do, it will be with confidence.
the shots were taken from about 5 yards. This is an estimate based on
memory, but as I assessed the demo I felt that we were dealing with
realistic home defense distances.
Interesting results compared to other tests I’ve seen. I hv pdx1s in my 40
cal glock 22 & bought some 4 my grandparents in 38 special but had
hesitated on 12g for my shotgun hd because I’ve seen these pass through
19in of gel. Well due to the fact that Walmart had nothing left but these
and having used up my 00 buck in the mnts last weekend, I just bought the

Energy dump is kind of an old term associated with RII and stopping power,
which was false. Especially for handgun bullets. But “energy transfer” as
far as relevance to target disruption and in these cases
non-overpenetration is viable. Media testing is misleading and
misunderstood in many cases. From clay, to different gel types. Stretch
cavity and gel reaction isn’t necessarily elastic tissue representation.
But at some point energy will have significance. And it looks dramatic.
I don’t get the idea of combining slugs and buck. you loose the advatages
of each (a bunch of holes with buck and precision with a slug) As far as im
concerned, if you feel the need for a slug, having buckshot mixed in makes
the slug unusable for its purpose and makes the buck less effective at its.
If you need a slug take one from the side saddle and do a slug change over.

Winchester would greatly appreciate some FEEDBACK on this video. .. The
180g 40 is a great round though. I’d trust my life to this stuff
the .40 S&W seems to react very similarly to the Fed HST. Would you
recommend one over the other?
depends on whether you are shooting John Goodman or Calista Flockhart.

does the pdx1 segmenting slug over-penetrate?
i use pdx1 in my glock 21, glock 30 springfield xdm .40, and my taurus 617
357 mag great stuff and i am storing extra
I own these slugs, and they are wicked!
if someone got hit wih that .308, would they die?

it is segmented and is designed to break into 3 sections when it impacts
the threat.
I bought a box of 50 .40 cal 180 gr police/fbi overstock pdx1 in brass, for
19 bucks. I researched the round and I was very impressed.
i’m buying a crate of the pdx-1 slug lol
I was impressed with the energy transfer. I’d like to see a demo at some
longer distances.
could i trust my life to the pdx1 12 gauge slug

pdx1 for life
would the pdx1 segmenting slug work in a bullpup shotgun?
Pretty sure that PDX1 Defender 1oz 12 ga slug x 3 00 buck would turn that
gel block into a smoothie
Winchester shoulda hired Billy Meyes.
could i trust my life and the lives of my mom and grandma to the pdx1 120
grain .308 winchester?
they sell PDX1 Defender elite 230 Grain JHP at walmart now they are $24.98
a box of 20
The pdx1 jhp bonded defense are better but they will over penatrate.
that splitting of the gel emphasizes it quite a bit. If that was someone
gut, gross :S

so, no over-penetration?
I’ve seen these fail to expand so many times. HST, gold dot, DPX, critical
duty are much better
that’s exactly what it was made for…

I have a fixed modified choke barrel on an Ithaca model 37 can I shoot this
slug through that barrel?

could the slug be used for home defense/personal protection?
Look up Buck and Ball. It was popular during the Revolutionary War.
