Definitely read the hand movements.

I've been following ASP for over a year now and am grateful for everything it has taught me, for the importance of awareness it brought out. While I have always considered myself someone that is alert to his surroundings, seeing some of these videos and their breakdowns has been enlightening.

I won't say that I've become paranoid or hypervigilant, but I definitely take the world more seriously for what it is.
A few days ago, I had a situation that made me think of every scenario I've watched on ASP. My wife and I were done grocery shopping, and we were pushing our cart back to my truck, our daughter was in the cart seat. As my wife handed me the bags, we both got distracted, and next thing I know, when I turned to get another bag from her, there was a dude standing RIGHT NEXT to my daughter trying to help us with the bags.

Now, to give some context, this dude isn't a regular vagrant. We've witnessed him plenty of times getting pushy and super close to people and then proceeding to demand, not ask, for money when he's done helping them. Also, I had already had 2 previous encounters with him that did not go well.

The first time I was with my family as well, and after he helped us, he said "I need some money." I thought, whatever, he's a crackhead, I'll give him a dollar or two. I gave him two, and the whole time he was super close, looking at my wallet, so that I had to tell him to back up a little, and he gave me a pissed off look and shook his head, to which I asked "If you don't want it I can take em back." He spun around and left after that.

The second time, he was coming toward me and my daughter and I outright told him I was good, that I could handle the bags myself, he kept coming and I ended up being more forceful "I said I got this." And he stared at me for a minute, like considering, he left again.

Back to our most recent encounter…what ticked me off was how he had crept on us, and was standing super close to our daughter, and I never even noticed.

I was like "Dude, step away from my daughter please, you're too close and I don't know you."

He kept trying to reach in to the cart and grab things.

"We're ok, thank you." My wife tried to say nicely, and then he tried to take a bag that my daughter was holding, at which point I lost my 💩 and started going around.

"We've had issues before, you never listen, and I already tried to give you money once, and you acted like an a-hole, now please leave us alone."

He backed up a step and started reaching into the back of his pants, and I immediately took a side way stance, with my dominant hand ready by my 3 o'clock, but not really showing my intent, neither did I draw, I just had it floating almost casually. While doing this I told my wife to get in the truck with our daughter and then asked the guy.

"Yo, what're you doing man?"

Another guy that was parked in front of us at that moment stepped out of his vehicle and started helping out "Hey man, it's just a dad with his family, don't do nothing crazy." The dude looked back and forth between us for a moment and kept his hand behind his back. He finally started walking off and we haven't gone back there ever since. He's always at thay parking lot and I'm just worried he's a timebomb waiting to go off and hurt someone just going about their grocery shopping.

Some may argue you don't have to be worried about junkies or smaller looking individuals, but truth is you never know how far the other guy is gonna take it or how desperate they are, and desperate people tend to do very stupid things.

The way I see it, I always try to de escalate, and I never, ever ever, underestimate anyone or any situation no matter how small and insignificant it may seem.

I've seen dude's smoked over their belongings, even after they've handed them over.

This would never happen in Texas!

When he got all hits through glass I immediately assumed FMJ, probably .380. The exit wounds confirmed FMJ.

He probably just wanted his motorcycle back! Sometimes crime doesn't pay! Be prepared!

Most people are not aware of this.
