Having drinks at home, someone kicks in door… Step #1, only statement to cops is he kicked in door, had to defend myself and family, all further questions to my lawyer. Do not take breath test, you are not required. Make them get a warrant if they want that or blood. How did you access the gun? Not germane to the discussion of necessity for defense., talk to lawyer. Etc, etc.

Again in Florida, on the medical weed question, it’s still up in the air; however, Florida goes out of their way to not share data. The closest they come is by pulling an MVA photo for use on the MMJ card, but you can also send a photo.

Florida is very protective of gun ownership, too the point where it is against state law to keep any form of gun registry in any form, by any group, public or private, and personal information is not shared.

Example: your driver’s license is issued by MVA / DoT / whatever the official name is at the moment.

Your MMJ card is issued by the Department of Health, so a separate agency.

Your CWP is issued by the Department of Agriculture. This is done intentionally, so Law Enforcement has no Abe’s to your concealed carry status.

To confuse things more, if you do possess a CWP, you may purchase any number of firearms in one Day and take them with you. Showing the CWP exempts the purchaser from a state security check, so the gun shop only has to get the number ATF. They’re on hold usually fifteen minutes.

I’m uncertain of their reasoning; however, Florida is very pro-2A, plus it’s not the people who have jumped through all of the state hoops that are going to become unhinged. As you’ve mentioned in your videos, a felon is going to get their firearm regardless. A person who follows all of the state guidelines for a CWP, is, IMHO, not going to be the threat. (Just my opinion.)

DCGoth says:

I love how you mentioned Florida on the alcohol question. 🙂 I have a Florida CWP and live outside of Tampa. The rule goes: If you are in a bar, which is basically a place that is specific to alcohol and has limited food sales, you cannot carry in that establishment. One easy way to tell off you’re in a “bar” Is that smoking Is permitted indoors. Restaurants are where it gets dicey. By restaurants, let’s say chains like Applebee’s. You are permitted to carry provided you are not seated at the bar itself. You must be at a table, I think a few feet from the bar, and you can order alcohol either through your waitress or by walking up to the bar and then returning to your table.

As you say, for localities, check your local listings, as while that is the Florida Statute, you may be treated differently in a location off the beaten path, while a touristy place like Orlando may have stricter enforcement.

Not that many years ago, one of the old school bars, on the gulf, on News Year’s Eve people would fire into the ceiling. Granted, that’s been about ten years ago, and I think they’ve resigned that in a bit.

(Obviously, at Waffle House it’s bad etiquette to not use a knife. 🙂 Joke).

Well I wish I could have asked live but I'll try here anyway. If I own a gun and my wife wants to own CBD, am I now breaking the law because I'm technically in possession of it as well.

Rodney Bridenbaugh says:

Can I put my gun in my gun safe loaded & is it safe to do it ? Sincerely : Rodney Sr.

James Morris says:

Great information. I strive to train often and hopefully avoid having to use deadly force, but I will protect my family and myself 1st always.

Narvel Boston says:

michael cleaver says:

Alex K. says:

In California LE can buy any federally legal handgun they want. The rest of us, peons, can only buy from the state approved list 🙁

Doctor Quackenbush says:

When I had my own closet, I had a pump shotgun in a safe box (MA laws). I had a bean bag round up first, as mentioned, to give an intruder a chance to leave.

I asked Mas Ayoob about that when I took his MAG40 class. He advised against it using the logic that if I need to use deadly force, the use of a less-than-lethal round could work against me.

Doctor Quackenbush says:

There are some ammo restrictions (e.g., 5.7×28).
There are carve outs for some firearms in non-free states. Mags, too.
I recall the folding stock for Rem 870 that was stamped for LE only.
Thank you for noting that police are civilians.
There are full-auto weapon restrictions post-1986 for LE and military.

JP JP says:

California limits your carry weapon to a maximum of 3 guns with serial numbers on your permit.

Gee C says:

When I lived in close proximity of another property I carry .40 s&w.

Jack Perry says:

Best ammo. Use federal hydra shock. Best ammo for self defense hands down. 147 gr. Best!

Andrew Fossatti says:

I know you spoke of hollow points as the “best” for home defense. However, I’ve seen instances of hollow points getting clogged with material, clothing or dry wall, and acting more like a FMJ than a hollow point. In light of this, do you have any feedback on frangible ammo? I personally have zero experience with frangible ammo. But, I am under the impression that if it hits anything hard, bone, wall, etc. that it’s designed to fracture into little particles/dust… any feedback?

A Pulley says:

at 39:49 I believe the persons name was "the round sun" asked why certain firearms were sold only to LE. They may have been referring to websites like Buds G*n Shop that have certain firearms and ammo listed for LE & MIL only.

alan garlick says:

If you have a medical marajana card in Massachusetts they will take your gun. It happened to a friend of mine .

Ron Evans says:

We already had a situation like that here in Ga. Where a person pointed a target gun at another person. And the person that had the target gun was shot. From what I recall it was a justified shooting.

Jerry Abrego says:

Great self-defense video, always liked the Q&A.
