That dog is trying to protect territory it sees as his. It's barking loudly on the approach, stopping 5 feet away from the target. Dogs that want to kill don't bark that aggressively. They silently go in for the kill. The solution here mostly isn't with the dog. Dad needs to contact the owner and his family. The dog needs to be accustomed or introduced to the family by the owner.

Back in the day, my family had a neighbor's dog who was an outside dog. When our dog died, he sort of "adopted" us as a second family because he already knew who we were.

lucky he didn't pick up the girl. that always seems to hit the crazy button. i can't count the number of times they charge to get at what your holding. glad his girl was ok
