I will never understand why so many people in this world fire guns off as a part of celebrating or mourning.
Avoidable accidents like this happen all the time in other parts of the world. It is a cultural thing.

I actually teach the rules in a much easier way to remember them. Rule number one is all guns are loaded unless you prove otherwise. That's as you walk up to the gun. As you pick the gun up rule number two keep your finger off the trigger. And rule number three is never point the gun at anything you don't intend to destroy. Rule number four is know your target and what's behind it. And then you add the other ones about keeping a gun unloaded unless it's about to be used yada yada yada. I just think that's easier to remember in the order of walking up to the gun. Doing it out of order my students have trouble remembering it for some reason.
