Music Man says:

This is the mentality that develops when someone is brainwashed by the support officer no matter what even if other conditions are shown.

Dave says:

Well done for admitting fault. I thought the guy was well within his rights (as i understand American gun ownership). You were very dismissive of his rights of home owner (the man that represents a large portion of ur subscribers) id emplore you to watch british police dealing with the same situations. Your guys are very "yeehaa". Alot of the time they are very quick to go for wepons and escalating all screaming and shouting different commands pointing guns then when they get the person they are very physically for no reason other than it seems to be par for course when detaining someone there

Larry Koz says:

Home owner should of stayed away from door till he was fully alert, homeowner should of kept gun concealed till clearly needed, Officer as trained professional should Not of fired when he did because he had no way of determining if the person holding the gun was a threat. The call was not for an armed intruder.

nineteen96 says:

I saw the thumbnail and knew what it was immediately lol. Glad you revisited

Ryan V. says:

All I hear is manipulation coming out of y'all's mouth. Video should be 30 seconds long. "I'm wrong in every way. See ya later"

Ryan V. says:

So I didn't see this until now. The fact that John defended the cop, the fact that John wants to take the people out to dinner that shot the mentally challenged kid, shows he's blood hungry and I don't trust this pages judgement anymore. Show up to my house at midnight with a gun and see what happens.

Noah Floyd says:

Honestly, yeah the cop was wrong but the homeowner is a dumbass. If the cop shot him, a burglar could have shot him the same way. He needs to reevaluate how he handles these situations

Jville Green says:

I see he has a two story home. if someone is knocking on my door in the middle of the night would not come to the door would have stay up stair open the window from up stairs and would have interacted that way especially if i had windows on my front door keep the higher grown

R M says:

40 years as a police officer in upstate NY. This video is very disturbing. What the hell were these cops thinking. Can you say house in the Bahamas with a massive bank account.

Al Wong says:

First, don't do "reconnaissance in force". Actually know what the situation is without going downstairs blind aiming a weapon.
"I'm going to shoot at whatever is making that noise" is not a plan.

Really should holster the weapon while walking around the dark, even if it is your own house. It guarantees you keep your finger off the trigger, especially when startled or tripping over something in the dark. And you might accidentially shoot a family member or friend (2 legged or four legged). Also you need to keep your hands free. (Holding a flashlight, using a staircase rail, turning on lights, etc.) And as a homeowner he really could of used lots of outside lights, external security cameras, front door camera. And having remote control of interior lights, turning on the lights of a room he wasn't walking into is an advantage. He could have lit up the entire downstairs, and outside and just waited. As it was, seems the homeowner didn't know if trouble was there at all, or even if it was inside or outside. Going in totally blind without a real plan.

Hell, he could have just locked the bedroom door, got into a far opposite corner with his handgun, dialed 911, been ready to defend against anybody breaking down the bedroom door and chilled out.

But he was also setup. "Honey, I hear noises down stairs. You're the man, go check and I'll hide up here." Rolls over and says, "You're the one who heard something, you go check. I didn't hear a thing." Rolls over and goes back to sleep 😴 💤.

Also, yes it is your home and kingdom, but are you every really fully in control of a situation? Anyone who has stepped barefoot on a Lego going to the bathroom late at night and is then wide awake would tell you otherwise. The Lego was in full charge of my attention.

Have a plan. A real plan. There is a big difference between reacting and responding.

Sean Tarpey says:

I get a callous attitude towards criminals getting shot. But your attitude in this one was just disgusting.

Get rid of Mike. He is a snake of a fed. You can just smell the entitlement oozing off of him.

Marty Han says:

Big props for going back on this.

MatrixDwell3r says:

terrible situation, if its cops or robbers pretending to be cops dont walk directly in to the light with a weapon out would result in the same. you have to protect yourself by assessing the situation. he will win a lawsuit though.

Retz says:

"What the fuck is wrong with you?!" Says the moron who just pointed a gun at an unknown person.

What happened to "NEVER point the firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy"?
If he had followed the rules of gun safety he wouldn't have been shot.

305blaster says:

These guys make excuse after excuse for cops. This could have been handled totally different. I hope the home owner becomes a multi millionaire off this pos cop…

Ame's Apiary says:

I do respect you made this video. Your first video on this was way off, your pinned response on that video was nothing short of lame and very telling. I can only hope that this video was based on your conscious decision that you were wrong and not some $$$ driven company decision.

Winton Lee says:

The Good Apples want the right to murder any innocent American and walk with their qualify immunity. These are NAZI guards who view Americans as their enemy.

Rick S says:

In this day and age front doors with side lights (viewing and shooting ports for uninvited guests) are a bad idea. Home Depot sells frosted decals designed and sized for most side lights. For $25 or $30 this problem goes away.

Second) the homeowner was backlighted as he approached the door and clear glass side lights. Not a good situation when someone is pounding and yelling at your front door at 0 dark thirty.

I think the cop could have moved off the x in the time it took to draw and fire. That seems a more reasonable response for a medical alarm call. Nothing in this video suggests he had reason to suspect anything criminal was going on inside the house.

R. Tafolla says:

This is why I appreciate this channel over others. The learning doesn’t end when the video ends. You guys listen to the community, listen to the feedback, and are able to look back and reflect on what you may have gotten wrong.

=UMPA= TAS says:

An opaque door with a peephole would have prevented this as well.

Ame's Apiary says:

All this could have been avoided if the officer had taken the light of the guy for a second.
Still not buying the pointing weapon. It's at his crotch, how does that work? He is using the light. You need to decide support a weapon mounted light or not. I for one don't and teach not to have one for just this type of scenario.
Have you read any of the legal documents surrounding the case?
We have walked through this at two different homes with side windows, porch light on, bright light shining in, etc. Can't tell who it is.
Why is it always the homeowner who is in the wrong, "because he didn't know" but the officer is considered right in his actions "because he didn't know"
Wh

Justin Smothers says:

Well in reality if someone is outside of my house at midnight, I'm grabbing my gun. And if I get shot, I'm shooting back no matter who it is. Seems like cops can fuck up alot and not take responsibility for their actions.
