8 Most Powerful .380 ACP Ammo for Self-Defense

.380 ACP is not the most popular cartridge by any means, especially for concealed carry or home defense. That said, thanks to new technology, it is getting a second wind. These cartridges are some of the best ammo for concealed carry. A lot of people like the .380 ACP because it is smaller than 9 mm, meaning that you can fit more ammo into a smaller package. Did you know that the .380 ACP is actually also called the 9 mm short because it is just 9mm but shorter? There's been a lot of testing on the 380… The Hornady XTP moving 1000 FPS is the best performing option, but doesn't make it on your list. Interesting…

Mike Ogden says:

.380 will stop any bad guy… it will work and do the job…

Hi, I'm really confused about the Facebook group. Is that group owned and managed by you? It doesn't look like a gun and ammo review page.

Zer0 Deaths says:

Keep a .380 on me every day, alongside my .38 special. Great little round, killed plenty of hogs and coyotes with them whenever I didn't have a rifle or shotgun in hand.

Sig 226/2022 says:

I still won’t go smaller then 9mm but anything is better then nothing.

fawnl liebowitz says:

I Carry a Sig P238 in my pocket everyday, totally inconspicuous. Hornady ammo.

davidkachel says:

Yet another fake video. All the video you show of people shooting (supposedly 380 guns) are actually shooting much larger guns.

Herb Wandrei says:

Many 380 auto will not cycle with hollow points….I use ball ammo…feeds well in most pistols

44 Hawk says:

It is a 9 mm short, it does not take up less space than 9 mm. And I have read the FBI Treatise on the 9 mm. The day that I listen to the FBI and their construct of what makes a round have any kind of power to stop somebody's behavior, please shoot me. That is the biggest longest diatribe of b***** I have ever read. The concept that a bullet that travels 18 in through medium does more damage than a bullet that opens up and does massively more permanent wound cavity inside of 8 to 10 inches is a full hearty batch of crap.

Lifted_Above says:

Is 9mm too much for you?
Ditch the dainty fumbling wad of plastic switches and demands, and pick up a 5-shot .38 special snub revolver, at least 2" or longer barrel. Grab some soft lead 158gr bullets with a flat nose. It'll shoot easier than a snappy .380 and with the right loads, laughs at 9mm while it takes down a Black bear.
Better yet, go for a Ruger LCR in .327 Federal Magnum, holding 6 rounds in the footprint of the larger 5-shot.

OldGuy Real says:

I used to carry the Underwood Extreme Defender 'screwdriver' round, but switched to the Underwood JHP that claims 1200fps on the box, 90 gr, +P, item 141

BADGER says:

I WATCHED THIS WHOLE VIDEO, CAPTIVATED THE ENTIRE TIME… KNOWING FULLY WELL I'D N E V E R BUY A .380!🤣😂
9MM IS ABOUT AS LOW AS I'D GO FOR PERSONAL DEFENSE.

AWESOME AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO NONETHELESS!!

Jonathan Sandoval says:

Thank you, good video. What do you think about the Winchester silver tip. I have been carrying those for many years.
