Our first challenge: fighting on a moving bus. — Welcome to the Martial Arts Journey YouTube channel! My name is Rokas. I’m a Lithuanian guy who trained Aikido for 14 years, 7 of them running a professional Aikido Dojo until eventually I realized that Aikido does not live up to what it promises. Lead by this realization I decided to make a daring step to close my Aikido Dojo and move to Portland, Oregon for six months to start training MMA at the famous Straight Blast Gym Headquarters under head coach Matt Thornton. After six months intensive training I had my first amateur MMA fight after which I moved back to Lithuania. During all of this time I am documenting my experience through my YouTube channel called “Martial Arts Journey”. Now I am slowly setting up plans to continue training MMA under quality guidance and getting ready for my next MMA fight as I further document and share my journey and discoveries. — If you want to support my journey, you can make a donation to my PayPal at [email protected] SUBSCRIBE to see when the next videos will come out: ► http://bit.ly/1KPZpv0 Check the video “Aikido vs MMA” which started this whole Martial Arts Journey: ► https://youtu.be/0KUXTC8g_pk If you want to support me and this channel on a regular basis check my Patreon page: ► https://www.patreon.com/rokasleo #selfdefense #martialarts #usdc

James Atherfold says:

I love this. Whether your a UFC fighter or practice aikido, when it comes to a knife attack,no one is invincible.

ⵎᴼᴸᴰ Шᴼᴿᴸᴰ says:

I don’t know why but there is something really jarring about the knife attackers but i don’t even know what

Wolf Hound says:

From what I learned grappling is the worst thing against knife attacks. Keeping the distance is the best thing you can do. I'd like to see this again but with strikers.

Flanker says:

As close to real as it can get. Not sure why nobody tried to disarm the attacker even when they were 2 hands on one. Am sure there would have been folks who would have succeeded at taking possession of the knife.
How about playing open guard from the start by offering him your legs as the target instead of your vital organs since escaping is not an option.

Lucky Luke says:

To be fair, they don´t only fight against an attacker with a knive, they had to fight an trained attacker with a knive. I would say chances would be way higher if you fight a randome dude with a knive and without protection gear. Because at least you have the chance of a sudden knockout.

Night Dark says:

Please get Tim Kennedy to do this, I beg you! Just ask him if he wants to do it. Check out the video of him when he defends against a knife attack. He is honestly the best I have seen doing it.

Ernesto Eduardo Dobarganes says:

I fought someone with a knife, and I controlled him without getting injured at all. What worked for me was grabbing his arm with 2 hands and lifting it over our heads while pressing him with my body against the counter top of his store (it was a guy who was selling fruits, veggies, etc. in a market. I had about 10-15 pounds of muscle over him, but he was no dummy.)

Bon Jovi says:

As a London Bobby I had a guy leap out of a car and swipe at me with a smallish short blade, man I sucked belly like you wouldn’t believe! Fortunately for me, he decided to abandon the knife and run, we had a foot race which he eventually lost but truth is, if he’d kept coming I wouldn’t be writing this. I’ve been threatened with pretty much everything including guns. On the street knives trump everything, even a single stab will end most people.

YUKONJACK STORMRIDER says:

the reality check we all need thank you gentlemen

Jason Martinez says:

should try with no gloves

AraragiTheXIV says:

I'm sure this had been addressed quite a lot but you cannot kill someone by stabbing him in the back while he's facing you. These quick thrusts from behind have almost no power at all. Maybe if the knife hits exactly between the vertebra and goes all the way through the nerves but this is rather unlikely. That being said, one deep thrust in the guts will very likely suffice to make you at least handicapped for the rest of your life or just kill you very slowly and painstakingly.

Rod Pruitt says:

I'm a Kenpo black belt under Grandmaster Chuck Sullivan and my instructor Vic Le Roux. They told us that there is no good knife defense. I guess grabbing the knife is two hands if possible is all I can think of . . . and pray . . . Really hard. . . hahaha

Raze VorteX says:

im no expert and i would die for sure but in this situation traped with someone that realy just want to kill you the only option would be "kill" him or knock him out while get less stabbed as possible but since they are protected that wouldnt had worked either

Andres Lezcano says:

In sum, my little Grasshopper, unless you have a gun, you better run. – Confucius.

Nicolas Grösch says:

Me getting attackt with a knife : I'm saving my energy for the next round…

T-roy Animal Guy says:

These guys are dumb. Not martoal
Artists. Non of them did anything right or smart.

AraragiTheXIV says:

What the hell, why do I hear just today of this big youtube tournament?

420BLZKN says:

This is great and definitely puts a real perspective on knife situations. It's scary to see trained martial artists still losing rounds. I wonder if the defender had a knife as well if it would've gone the same. But then again, it probably will. Moral of the story. Run n if u can't take them out with you 😂

Lucas Denny says:

Brilliant video. This is an important ego-check for a lot of people!

Jacob Carrizales says:

I dunno. A marker isn’t a great way to gauge how well you can defend against a knife. There’s no difference when judging whether a wound is superficial or fatal. Like if I’m controlling his arm and stopping him from getting a good stab but he’s tickling me with the tip of the marker that’s fatal?

Mayowa says:

Next time with a sword or machete 🫣😂
And if a limb gets cut then you can’t move that

Itburns Wheneyepee says:

Hey look I’d never want to fight someone with a knife, I’d almost certainly die, but tin this exercise you’ve removed all the offensive measures to defending yourself. Can I get a stick in there eye before they can stab me do death? Can I throw dirt in their face and brain them with a large rock? This is like an exercise on arresting someone with a knife

Gkbxfkkmwrt says:

Best way to defend yourself from a knife is to carry a gun.

Parishrpr says:

So the attacker can stab and punch, but you can't???
