Personally, it's difficult to see a folder being a primary option for self-defense using an edged weapon. Yes, they'll work, but why choose a more complicated item for sticky situations, when you could use a fixed blade? Folders have more moving parts, so naturally, there are more possible points of failure. I am very interested in that pikall (or however you spell it) by Steel City Cutlery.

I have an older Spydieman neck knife with a 1" blade, but a 3"+skelitonized knife. Very useful and easy to carry.
