There is a reason many hitters for the mob used suppressed 22lr pistols, put one of those in someone’s head and they’re not getting up. Is it the most practical weapon for all scenarios, obviously not. But it’s still a metal object piercing your body at upwards of 1000 fps. You will die if hit in a vital, and for an elder lady or someone with a disability it’s honestly viable as hell.
I know a guy who had his house house broken into. They started beating him he pulles out his .22 shot one in the stomach the other took of running. Laugh all you want but but it saved him. I bet you point that .22 at somone there not gonna laugh and say oh im going to poop that out next week.
22lr accels in only 3 categories. Teaching fundamentals to people unfamiliar with shooting. Slaying paper and soda cans. And assassinations. And there is only a single argument that is acceptable for self defense, and that is, it was the closest thing ya had at hand the moment the shit hit the fan and you couldn't access something better without being in more danger. It's better than nothing, but barely. On an interesting note, 22 IS more capable than any of us gun owners give it credit for. Statistically speaking by the pure numbers, more people die by 22 than by any other caliber. But it is not the best. The best by far is what you train with religiously.
I haven’t seen any one mention that if you do defend yourself with a 22 you’d be dealing with less noise and that can possibly help in a scenario? Idk maybe. Too me the advantages of shooting 22 is it’s cheap and quiet with zero recoil.
As a person that lives with muscular dystrophy and also paralyzed from the chest down due to a back surgery going wrong. I’m limited to what I can and can’t do, I carry a 22 for self defense so laughing isn’t cool. Would I prefer 9mm or something else sure. But having something is better than having nothing so there are circumstances a lot of calibers are to snappy for a person like me that includes 380 and the 30 super. So yes 22lr is better than a sharp stick and gives you way better reach than a knife. I’m from oskaloosa Kansas which isn’t super far from your shop like 3hrs maybe 3 and a half hours. I now live towards Harrisonville MO which is almost the same distance. Now I can shoot different caliber rifles since I designed a rifle holder for myself if you guys are ever in Missouri and would be open to meeting a fan that would be great even possibly shooting together I have family that owns land. Side note I’m wanting to get an ar10 would it be better to build one or buy a complete gun and if so what do you recommend? Thanks in advance.
One possible advantage, if you’re shooting a suppressed 22 with subsonic rounds, you have the chance to not wake up the kids defending from a intruder!
If you're accurate, a 22 to the head is still lethal.

Let’s not pretend to not mind being shot by a .22lr … rationalize that damage can still be done
Fella came out and said "bragging rights."
Gonna be defending with recoil that’s equivalent to a rubber band, and less chance of collateral if you’re indoors, I guess…
When u know nothing about firearms u say stupid stuff like this
Less chance of a murder charge
If that’s all you can afford

Probably my favorite short by far.
Worked at a trauma center for years. .22 will make a corpse just like a 9mm.
No over penetration, low recoil and cheap ammunition.
For me its cheap ammo

I can put 30 down range with virtually ZERO recoil… do you want 30 holes in your face or do you want to go home today? The choice is yours!! 😂
No recoil and faster shots on target. At least until you get a dud or it jams
Well one advantage is ammo capacity..no recoil.. accurate due to no recoil…and can and will stop a grown man in his tracks lol

Round count and recoil control, however this will not make up for the fact that it's .22
I was waiting for give it to your 5 year old and tell him no one is to enter his room then get a real gun

The bouncing around thing is a myth. .22 LR tumbles and fragments making multiple wound channels.
Good first shot placement, good follow up shots, no recoil, potentially higher capacities etc. Also the American-180 exists, so there is that
more ammo cause smaller rounds???
