Self Defense Mistake – Don’t Just Stand There!

Many people make a BIG mistake in self-defense training… don’t be one of them! Join Ando and Sifu Randy Brown for a quick tip that might save you from trouble. â–ºFor more of Randy Brown’s tips and tactics, SUBSCRIBE to Mantis Boxing here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuKvVm_kd4A62onE4bUz-nQ â–ºAlso visit Randy Brown’s website: http://randybrownmantisboxing.com/ N ow for the big self-defense mistake… standing still when you practice techniques with a partner! That’s just not realistic! Yes, when you first learn self-defense techniques, it’s natural to stand still. This approach gives you time to understand what an attack feels like and allows you to coordinate your body movements. But that’s just the first step! Remember this advice from Sifu Randy– slow to learn, fast to test! In other words, once you feel your understanding of a self-defense technique is solid, it’s time to start speeding up and adding more pressure. The first step should be to turn your static attack into a moving attack. Whether it’s a push, punch, or grab, very few attackers are going to just stand there. They are gong to move! Plus, consider that as an attacker rushes at you, a strong punch or palm heel to the face may not be enough to stop them. It’s more likely that they will keep moving forward and collide with you. Remember Conor McGregor versus Jose Aldo? Conor knocked Jose out cold, but he still got hit! Jose threw a punch as he fell forward and connected. It just happens that Conor was smart enough to get out of the way of his falling opponent. You be smart, too! Don’t just stand there when you practice. Ask your partner to rush into your space. The next step will be to start adding resistance. How much pressure you add is up to you! THANKS FOR WATCHING! Self Defense Footwork Drills

► https://www.codereddefense.com/newsletter ► https://www.codereddefense.com/products/footwork-principles The self defense footwork drill is one of the best drills that can be done to improve your fighting movements. When an attack takes place, your attacker will be moving rapidly from many different sides. You need to be able to have a good fluidity in your movements and react quickly to the attack. If you attacker comes at you by swinging wild punches, you need to be light on your feet to move very quickly in any directions. Using your footwork skills is also essential to enhance your striking abilities. If you evade a barrage of punches and want to go in with offensive strikes such as a palm strike, a straight jab or an uppercut, you will need to have excellent footwork skills. In a street fight, you need to be able to go frontwards, backwards, or from any side in a split second. Unfortunately, footwork is not something that is taken seriously enough in the martial arts industry, but we can tell you one thing, it is a crucial element of your personal safety training. Footwork is probably the best kept secret of the self-defense industry. If trained correctly, footwork can change you in such a positive way as a fighter and self defense practitioner. Make sure to practice the footwork drills that are shown in the video clip. Leave us a comment, to let us know what you think about the video. We always enjoy reading your comments.
