John Rice says:

The gel is better but only like a punch to the face. Pepper spray isn't a deadly force tool. The spray will get everyone including the user. Wind is a thing.

Old Guy says:

Pepper spray is for dogs attacking your dog, because who wants to shoot a dog? Well, except a fed.

Guns are for stopping a deadly force attack. Like shooting some ahole with a knife before they can get close enough to cut you.

mattr918 says:

It's works great on dogs… which tends to be a problem in my world.

notgaybut20bucksis20bucks says:

From personal experience I keep my mouth shut about what "I would've done is" comments.

Jeff Huntley says:

Uncle Joe says shoot’em in the knee:)

Red Faux says:

Excellent video brother. When SHTF pepper spray would be mostly useless unless it was a piece of a better tactic. Anyone who wants to kill you must be neutralized, not hindered.
You've lost a lot of weight. I hope you're Ok.

Marty Monaco says:

WOW! I did not know this! Thanks!

Jeff Huntley says:

Local college has banned pepper spray because so many drunk sorority students used it unnecessarily. If you spray it in a gas station it takes a day to dissipate

Kosher says:

Great video!
I live in Liberal California, and if I were to strike a bad guy after spraying him, I’m SOL.

Ty for the vid

Hutzjohn says:

I'm gonna have to side with you on this —– I personally don't believe BEAR spray works on bears —— many many times bears will give you a "false charge" I believe bear spary only works when they are on a false charge —- bear spray NEVER works on a sow protecting her cubs she will charge thru bear spray and even a 12 gauge slug to protect her cub. So pepper spray absolutely irritates eyes and breathing BUT it's not fool proof.

John Ross says:

Pepper spray only makes your own defense more difficult. Pepper spray on an attacker will soon be close enough to affect your breathing, eye site. Unless you are faster running away without looking back.

Anna Lea Brown says:

Is it illegal in Indiana to have pepper spray? It used to be. I dunno now. I have some old ass can of it on my key ring. Prolly doesn't work. As far as knives go, they scare the shit out of me. You can knife me before I even think of pulling. Had a great boot knife, but the ex took/burned it when he left. Ah well.

Steven Skidmore says:

Thinks man , great to hear from you again , we don't miss around with spray , we practice good gun control , thinks have a great blessed day AMEN .

NMR says:

@Ethical Preparedness, thank you for signing a spotlight on pepper spray. It has its uses, and it is often overlooked. Gel pepper spray takes the longest to work, and the fog spray is going to get on everybody, including you. The stream is the best, even though they all say spray.

Jordan says:

I missed your video's

John Lord says:

In the Corps, we had such military instructors operating the CS buildings, that they could literally walk, talk, and breathe the stuff – it became nothing to them. For others, with continued bi-annual mandatory exposure requirements, you would be breathing and yelling without your mask … at all the newbies to put on their (-) mask – hurry up (— —— ) !!! (they didn't learn anything in boot camp ?!) – so that YOU could finally put on your mask, then march them all out and into the wind for fresh air to eyes, face, and breathing. In our boot camp, we had one person even put on their mask upside down …

Eric K says:

Good advice.

John Lord says:

Just like military-potent CS gas, civilian pepper spray, or police/bear high-potency spray … its all the same … it takes time to stop someone (or a bear !) with this irritant. A knife assaulter still can stab and jab you … or a bear rips your azz with its claws. Pepper spray needs to be used – THEN RUN AWAY for the time to take effect with blinded vision and hard breathing on the perp !!!! Whether you return and then deal with the problem child is another matter. And yes, I have had 3x+ events where spray was used and it took 3-5 minutes on a homeless drug-crazed female, homeless crack-crazy black person trying to get at you inside of a vehicle, or a hispanic (potentially drug cartel) shop lifter who got a free dose of spray – instead of the full shopping cart of stolen goods (in the also stolen U-Haul truck – a new common practice !).

Pepper spray is NOT a problem-solver – it is a time-delay and deterrent movement – which needs additional protections if it is to be fully used as a last defence option (police or civilian stun gun, taser … or a big bang final solution).

Also take TOTAL SITUATIONAL AND LOCATION AWARENESS when ANY U-Haul delivery truck or pickup is in your area. U-Haul KNOWS that their delivery trucks, including this shoplifter's stolen pickup truck … are now being used for crimes – where the individuall can't be tracked with these stolen vehicles. Such that U-Haul facilities are constantly being broken into and taken from their very fenced and locked depots !!! Such is happening in CA and elsehwere (U Haul HQ of Phoenix, AZ – all license plates are issued from AZ … no matter what state they operate in). Drug cartels, MS-13, and other shady and drug organizations appearing are using U-Hauls. If you see shady characters driving U-Hauls (depending on your status and qualifications for controlling situations), curtail the exit of such vehicles – until proper police and identity are proven.

It is the same for South Dakota and other Midwest locations making crack and meth, that they were steal the liquid ammonia tank trailers – but they will also be surreptitious in hauling a pickup and mini trailer into a gas station, drive over the very portals of the gas tanks, while the driver(s) walks into the gas station keeping the attendant busy, the other person(s) are busy pulling off the gas lids, cutting the gas locks, then siphoning out the gas (with no visible outside activity or noise. Have seen it done – without knowing it of the time – until later knowledge. You see a pickup and trailer acting suspicious at a gas station – suspect the worst. Call the police … and grab the perps.

Smug Canuck says:

Pepper spray is illegal in Canada! Can you believe it?

Matthew Ellisor says:

Great advice. I've taken four exposures and deployed OC five times. The absolute worst exposure was from POM and the close second was Sabre Red. The easiest to fight through were the fog and the gel formulations. Yeah, they hurt just as much but it's 10-20 seconds later when the epinephrine is already starting to kick in.
Carry one that's a stream and follow J. F. 's rules of stupid while living a life purposed for deescalation and evasion; And, know when it's time for a different tool. I pray, may we never need it!

ChadMcShagger says:

Your comment please, to smartassed guys like me that carry bear spray instead (with their firearm.) For me, it's not so much that it's stronger. It's that it comes in larger sizes & is 50 state legal. Please advise.

Roger Bartlet says:

If I legally couldn't defend myself, isn't that the same thing as the government condoning the attack?

John Luna says:

It's at best a deturent and can help you reposition and gain a better position to engage the perpetrator. But if you're taking on a meth and/or pcp goon you're better off using a strong tactical light to blind them and introduce ideas to confuse them. Secondly, pepper spray can suddenly incapacitate you too or instead. Sudden change in wind. Hard surface creating a splash when the stream hits it. I've also seen people spray a guy and still end up engaging them physically and now they're getting all that spray on them with the exact same effects. Always stay up wind, always spray and reposition or have a solid barrier like a door. Hot tip: never spray through a window screen or mesh surface…You'll regret it. If you can't spray through open air to the target don't spray.

Dee Bee says:

All concealed pistol carriers need to carry pepper spray for non-lethal fights like when some dummy wants to have a fistfight. That said, KNOW when to use either.

Arliss Young says:

First and foremost, I pray I am never put in that spot again. 2 times I had to draw my weapon, Thank God, I didn't have to use it but it was close the first time, having the weapon made a believer out of the thugs. Lucky for me I am in Florida and we have good laws and we are a Pro A2 State. I wouldn't even carry spray unless it was the only way. As always GREAT video Thank You.

travisterrelljacobs says:

Common sense

sqlb3rn segfavlt says:

I don't carry OC spray to stop deadly force, I carry it to stop dogs or people who insist on getting in a fight with me, when it's not justified to use a gun or knife

Bruce Moriarty says:

Absolutely right. If it's a standard fight pepper spray might help. But if the attacker has a knife , it's highly unlikely to not get stabbed or sliced
And pepper spray won't be as much help as the companies claim. I have never seen a 45 not do it's job. Thanks for ya hard work and educating people. God Bless my friend and have a great day.🙂🙏🇺🇸👍
