Lucky officer. I count at least 3 critical errors. 1) Officer unskillfully attempted a takedown of the driver, that tangled him up and he was vulnerable to stabbing or shooting, managed to escape; 2) perp #2 missed officer at point blank range with an AK pistol which would have easily killed him on the spot, but it hit perp #1, taking perp #1 out of the fight; 3) officer's use of the car for cover was not very good, with about 1/2 his body exposed at all times – his torso, head, right side/knee/leg, and feet. Arguably, when initially shot at, he ran from behind cover/concealment (white car) out in the open toward his police cruiser. I was like WTF??? Stay behind the white car!
Perhaps the officer was not trying to get his firearm out. We are also trained to put our hand on our weapon and push down on it to keep it in the holster. Yes, even with a level 2 or 3 duty holster. As long as the gun is not out of the holster it can not be used against us. There are times to push down and times to draw.
First, I'm very glad that officer prevailed and went home to his family, although I'd say that luck was a significant factor for him in this one. Second, that's a pretty catastrophic clerical mistake to make; they let him out of prison by accident?… I'd love to hear the details of that story.
As always another great video brother. Also wanted to say that you look like a whole different person. Your training has really paid off man. Congrats on your hard work. Stay safe out there.
Dude I'm telling you right now with two grown men in the car and I was by myself I would have waited for backup! I would have never tried to even grab that guy if I thought there was a problem I would have just pulled my gun out. I have seen it done multiple times they officer should have called for backup and had the two men stay in the vehicle until they arrive. Night time? At a gas station with nobody around? Red flag red flag. I've seen guys get out of their car not aggressively just to grab their wallet and cops pull their guns this just doesn't seem right.
This is like a damn intro mission on GTA. what the hell
Not only did the backup take eternity to get in the fight, but he hides behind a gas pump…. uhmmmmm

"Everyone gets firsts, before anyone gets seconds." Another great quote lol
Its nice to have a backup partner that waits along time to get in to action.
Classic example of "you reap what you sow" .
The backup officer went on a donut break after arriving, for heaven's sake.
