“Taking the Stand” tells the story of a crime from the unique lens of the accused as they take the witness stand. Hosted by Dan Abrams, each episode covers everything from first-hand defendant testimony, juxtaposed with the contentious cross examination to the final verdict. There is a reason that taking the witness stand in your own defense is a gamble that very few criminal defendants ever take. In addition to interviews with key members of the investigation, the series features original video from law enforcement, surveillance camera footage, 911 audio recordings, digital forensic evidence and some exclusive interviews and responses from the defendants themselves, to provide an in-depth look at dozens of raw and real cases.
A&E leads the cultural conversation through high-quality, thought provoking original programming with a unique point of view. Whether it’s the network’s distinctive brand of award-winning disruptive reality, groundbreaking documentary, or premium scripted drama, A&E’s brave storytelling always makes entertainment an art. Dang man if your ever driving a car just avoid people on bikes and everything else you could possibly hit it’s that simple. I seriously feel bad for that dude. He was minding his own business grabbing dinner for his family. The instigator is the driver all day. Gets punched for messing with the wrong dude and goes after him again and gets shot.
Had he hung around and explained the situation I’m sure he would have been fine.
What a shame.
Don’t ever mess with someone you don’t know. Period.
I think it was a very harsh sentence! He had very bad lawyers!
The judge failed miserably as he didn’t tamper justice with mercy! A clear case where he in high probability would have gotten away with a much lighter sentence had he been white or been able to communicate coherently and effectively! Truly a sad state of affairs in the American justice system!
I think the video speaks for itself. They came after him. He on a bike and they in a car. Too many people found dead and no one has a clue what happened. The video but him saying gun accidentally go off. If he had to pull his gun it would’ve gone differently and leaving the scene killed it. Dumb attorney move.

Proof yet again that if you aren't white, you have no right to defend yourself from attacks.
NOT THE CSGO AK SOUND EFFECT
Yes, agreed he had bad advice from lawyers or he didn’t follow his lawyer’s advice. This man was clearly being bullied by road raging people in a car.

He should have stuck with his Public Defender.
Self defense
Guilty 100%
Should have kept his hands to himself!
