Aikido Self Defense With Striking Forms

That’s pretty awesome, I for one never thought of uke as training for
attacking.

This kinda relates to my (as a novice aikido/pencak silat guy) idea of
making contact, then not giving them a chance to go after you again.

I see it way to often where distance is artificially created as a way of
defence when to me that goes against the natural flow of combat. My
philosophy is make contact, and end it – because it’s just going to go on
longer if you shy away from that fact.

If you read through this, Mr. Lowry, I’m sorry for the jumbling mess.

Good lesson Nick.. I remember Henry referring to the hand on the gloves
thing at around 3.00 as us having sticky hands.. =-)

Awesome discussion Nick.

The stepping through for some reason reminds me of Wing Chun. Now, I don’t
know it, haven’t learned, and I’m probably saying some wrong – but, when I
think of that I think of controlling the center line and driving attacks
through it as a way of defence/offense (same thing to them I think).
