On the range we all call for cover when reloading, off-line, calling out when ready and up, getting on line, and proceeding to engage, but that risk of an officer behind you not adhering to who has priority of fire and shooting you in the back is still there and not really covered in training other than with your SRT and SWAT units.
The perp was in shape and had only one hand on the gun. It was a fast video but I beleive he even held the gun sideways before shooting. Obviously it was friendly fire only because of a random ricochet tho.
